That's great! DS (all grown now) is an excellent cook. He started young with making things like grilled cheese and eggs and things. Then in his teens he got into stir frying, spice and heat!!!. Never cared to bake much. Now his wife does the baking and he does most of the meals. He also cooks for his large groups of friends and events in a teeny tiny postage stamp of a kitchen.

Little DGD is 3. She is "home schooled" and cooking is a weekly project. She started with rice krispy treats and helping prep things with mom or dad. The other day I was visiting and she said she wanted a quesadilla. Her mom said no she didn't have time to make it for her. Li'l one said "you don't have to. I can make my own like you taught me last time." We've created a monster. LOL She had to settle for blueberries and cheese and crackers. No cooking on her own for some years yet.

Yes, I started him making scrambled eggs. He's been cooking here since he was about 3. Now he's doing omelets and I bought him a dandy spatula from Sur La Table! Good for your DGD, it sounds like her parents are doing it right!

Ellen, your "fruit and vegetable eater" can come here, I'll let him help me can! (grin) Snickerdoodles, though, are one of my favorites, I sure wouldn't turn down a couple of those with coffee. I do have to confess, though, that I love Sol's Dirt Bombs, and so I don't make them very often, they're dangerous for me.

watchme, I love the fact that today's kids will ask for a quesadilla as quickly as they will a grilled cheese, they are for more "food advanced" than I was when I was a kid. Heck, I never heard of pizza until Appian Way put out those boxes, and they were disgusting, LOL. I had my first taco when I was a teenager and never had lasagna until I was an adult and made it myself! My grandkids wouldn't turn down cheese and crackers, either, though.

Cathy, Makayla has a panini press, it's HER favorite tool. Cooking is just more fun with toys. I'll bet Lily could make more than quesadillas with that. She is adorable, I love those braids. I think she resembles you, but you are definitely not blonde!

Annie, I have showed Lily other things to do with the waffle iron. BeauLily really like the Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls on the waffle iron.

Next we need to make pizzas using canned biscuits in a muffin cup with sauce, cheese and pepperoni-- I know the kids would love it! Pizza Muffins

We made finger food last Halloween. Beau love them, Lily not so much.

Now there's an idea, Ellen! Makayla usually makes "pizza" with flour tortillas, so they just roll 'em up and eat them...

Cathy, I did a body with slices of calzone for ribs and a "meat head", pizza sauce for blood. It was great fun. I'll bet my grandkids would like the fingerfood, LOL.

People have problems happen because people fail to appreciate and connect “action --> result” and “ Cause --> effect.”

Teaching kids gardening is a good way for them to learn “you
reap what you sow”, but that takes too long.

Teaching kids cooking is much better and quicker for them to
understand “ have your cake and eat it too” and how not to “ have your goose
cooked”

Not sure how I'll do with my grands in the kitchen. I wasn't very patient with Meredith, always rushing her along or over assisting.

Hopefully age has mellowed me.....

Sharon, we'd love to see a photo of your new grandbaby! You still have awhile to mellow-- but take it from me, it's so much easier when you're not rushing around-- just enjoying their company!

Not to be outdone with all the cute grandkids this is my
great grandson at 2 ½ last thanksgiving helping DD prep a turkey to take to her
DH’s office for a pot luck the day before thanksgiving. He loves to help in the
kitchen.

Claudia, I LOVE that picture! It reminds me of my girls at that age, "stuffing" a turkey nearly as big as they were. And now the grandkids are getting big too. (sigh) I didn't think about great-grandkids, so there's still hope of little ones "helping" me in the kitchen!

Sharon, I'm more patient with the grandkids than I was with my girls, but I had a busier life then too. You'll do just fine, plus you can teach all the "fun" cooking stuff, instead of the day to day "duty" cooking...

Its funny when my grandson was born I remember thinking I hoped
I lived long enough to see what kind of a man he would grow up to be. I couldn’t
be more proud of him and now he has given me not one but two little guys to
spoil. I don’t get to see them but about once a month or so but we face time,
actually the 3 year old showed me how, and I can shop for toys again something I
didn’t even know I missed. Having grand kids is better than having kids but
having great grand’s is truly a treasure.

Sharon, what a cutie she is just beautiful she will be
helping you in the kitchen before you know it and you would be surprised how
much more patients you have with grandkids. Enjoy they grow up so quick I remember
when the monkey princess was standing on a chair helping Annie in the kitchen and
look at her now almost all grown up.
