I haven't listened to any lately, but every one I have heard is exceptional. A young school teacher talking about getting kids excited about learning is one that I remember. Thanks for reminding me....I've had a 'netflix bug' for awhile now!

Love them! Always educational and I learn something new. Excellent for expanding knowledge. Such a broad range of topics. Hard to pick a favorite.

The founder of the StoryCorps podcast, Dave Isay, did one at a 2015's TED program that is titled "Everyone Around You Has a Story the World Needs to Hear," which was excerpted on the podcast (It's #420 if you look for it in iTunes; there's also a full transcript online if you don't use iTunes, but you really need to hear the audio -- hearing the voices is important). StoryCorps is an oral-history project, recording interviews. In his TED presentation, he discusses the value of preserving oral history, asking people about their lives, getting deep into the sense of the person, asking the questions now before it's too late. Among them: A young man with Asperger's talks to his mother about parenting, about whether there were times she couldn't cope with having a child, did he meet his mom's expectations (now, how hard a question would that be to ask -- not sure I would be so brave!); in another, a woman whose son was killed decided to meet the young man's killer and find out more about him. They eventually formed a bond, and the mother found a way to soothe some of her pain by looking at the future this man could have in place of her son's. One of my favorite stories there, tho, is a love story between a Brooklyn couple.

Sometimes, the interviews are hard to listen to -- the rawness of the honesty and other emotions. But I have found them quite moving,

I love Story Corps. Impossible to listen and not cry. Tears of joy, nostalgia, or pain. Done really well. I'll have to go listen to that Dave Isay's talk.

It was so good. I couldn't imagine his talk outdoing any Story Corps story I've heard, and yep, he blew me away. It's really fantastic why Story Corps was created and I knew it impacted me, but how it's impacted others is even more heart warming.

I've listened to some of them on youtube. Can't remember a favorite, just now...need to check them out again.

Oh I just remembered one that was great and very worth watching.

Jill Bolte Taylor : My stroke of insight

She had a massive stroke , she is a brain scientist! She was her own study case. Amazing.

My son introduced me to them and I've heard a few with him on his TV, can't remember the carrier. I found them informative and interesting.

I've heard someone's opinion that some of them are of varying depth and quality.

The TED Talks about happiness are wonderful. I watch them on youtube, I guess. Free online, anyway. I especially liked one called something like "The surprising science of happiness." Everyone remodeling a room should watch that one so they can relax about their decisions a little. If you find that one, there are related ones about happiness, like one by a Buddhist monk. Very uplifting.

Are you referring to David Steindl-Rast? Want to be happy? Be grateful, this was the first one I watched, it was a wonderful talk and it's true!

I always look at AOL for the latest news etc. for a while, they were posting them. Thanks for reminding me about them. I have seen quite a few, all are interesting, and some very inspirational.

raven, that one by the physician with the stroke, was my favorite. So interesting. I enjoy most of the TED talks.

lukkiirish (oh, I get it - "Lucky Irish"! took me a minute) No, it's Daniel Gilbert. But that one sounds good, too. I'll watch it. I agree with the concept; "counting your blessings" is actually a very effective mental health technique. Have to check out the physician with a stroke, too.

Of the ones I've seen, some have been good and others seemed a bit trite and contrived.

Ha! Ginny, that's too funny, yep Lukki Irish. I will check that one out, the one I posted of is a monk too! He was kind of soothing to listen to and I couldn't agree more with the message.
