Dats & Fur-Babies! :) What a mix!!!
Comments (22)Back from my yearly check-up at the Dr.'s office! Gonna live to take care of the plants & fur-babies! lol! Joyce - two of the six each have one brown eye & one blue eye. The dats I brought from the old place were seedlings that I was hoping would bloom. It worked! :) Doubt if I'll have time to get seed pods before frost hits - but I'm hoping! My brugs are directly in the ground - no pots. Others sink their pots - but I'm not one of them! :) Sue - I have six of the little rascals! lol! I buy an average of three 52 lb. bags of 'Pedigree' each month. And then you have the vet. He's gotta get his share! :) neonposey - Will that be through USPS, DHL, or UPS? :) Hong - All are registered Siberian Huskies! Haven't posted pics of Shanley or Logan yet. :) Brandy - I'll stick a few seeds in your package - as I have a few from last year. Just remind me via email!! Linda - Noooo! Not the fur-babies! :) Elizabeth - I'm leaving the brugs 'put' this year. Not digging a one! Hopefully they'll be up next year! Keeping my fingers crossed! Lucy - They rough-house with me! lol! They love to get me when they can & when I least expect it! Karen - Thanks for the compliment! :) Mike...See MoreDat roots space question
Comments (25)Daniella - there was yellow and black masonite siding under the brown cedar siding. Had to tear down through 3 layers to get to base and start over. Can you paint your yellow aluminum? Or does that need to be stripped first? Aluminum - that never goes bad - sturdy, right? The straight and sturdy siding, isn't it? With the heavy duty insulation? Everyone who spoke to me about the "vinyl siding" - everything looked like a "tupperware" house, this ugly plastic stuff. I said THAT'S IT, no more, go away - I'm goin' cedar siding. Can't afford redwood like CA, but next best thing is cedar. Re: Trees - Mine are Sugar Maples. I have one Silver Maple. And these need to be "daylighted" bad. I need to call an arborist. Every time I ask a landscaper person about "daylighting" a tree, they go "whaaaa?!?!' I'm thinkin' "Oh puulleeeazuh!" I think half these people hang a shingle as a landscaper because they own a lawnmower. I had trees daylighted by a company all around my house in Mill Valley. No one around here knows how to do it much less know what that means! It's great for the tree (and the grass beneath it) but I can't find anyone who can do it. The company in Mill Valley had guys swinging from ropes and harnesses from tree to tree (27 men in all) and a 14 foot tall chipper/grinder that would make your ears hurt. I did find one guy - he said he had a chain saw - and said he could "open that there tree up". . . .he was missing 3 front teeth. . . ahhhhhh. . well, hey, thanks. . .thank you very much, let me get back to you, ok? (aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!) Guess this spring I'm climbing the trees myself to do it. (sigh) Climbing a tree with a chain saw. . .greeeaaaheeeyyyt. . just what I wanna do. . . .anyone else see this accident comin' a mile away? Think I'll have a sawz-all - take them both up on ropes with me so I'm not carrying them. We'll see how it goes. What a nitemare to even think about. . . ....See MoreTell me about Cedrus deodara 'Blue Velvet'
Comments (3)Could be the more mature size, but that has a much more open branching style. These trees were really dense for a deodara. And I would venture to say that 'Sander's Blue' definately doesn't look dwarf. He had two primary sizes in his field....some at 6-8 years which were about 5-6' tall and some that he thought were 8-10 years old that were about 6-7'. And he's had them since young so they should be settled as far as a growth rate. So it fits they are probably dwarf or at least intermediates. I'm really thinking at this point 'Sander's Blue' and 'Blue Velvet' are not the same tree. He only accepts visitors on Saturdays, so I planned another trip out there next Saturday morning to at least look at them again if not buy one of the trees. I'll take some pictures of them to post. In the meantime, if anyone else has experience with deodara 'Blue Velvet', I'd love to hear the info or see some pictures. mark...See MoreBlue Velvet Sofa
Comments (125)We have to start renoing the upstairs by next summer so we will eventually be using that door. Also the nearest outlet is between the patterned chair and the sofa which is quite far from the tv as it is. We sat in there this afternoon and watched a movie with the kids. It was fine. The person in the patterned chair would either have to turn a little or turn the chair and they are light enough to not make it an issue. I'm hoping to find a small tv stand that is pretty close to the ground. I think it will be fine in the corner. Like k9arlene said, casters will make it easy to move it if I need to. I can't flip the furniture around because I have issues (phobias) regarding beam stability and even though we levelled the floor quite a bit, it still dips slightly toward the doors. It freaks me out even though logically I know it's fine. There's no way I'd be able to sit on the sofa with it so close to where I imagine the house will collapse from. The more furniture I put in, the more bare the walls look. I can't wait to start shopping for art! I want to thank everyone again for the input. It's been a really big help....See MoreNothing Left to Say
