New Hoya Trellis Idea
Comments (29)I think that is a terrific idea. Another suggestion that I used for a trellis for a Thunbergia is copper refrigeration tubing which comes in a coil and can be found at Home Depot, etc. I simply pulled the end that was in the center up and out of the coil and it made a nice spiral. You can pull it up as high as you like it. To anchor it in the pot I took the other (outside) end of the coil and bent it down to the length needed to extend into the bottom of the pot I was using and proceeded to fill the pot with soil and the plant. It has worked very well so far for me. Not sure how heavy a hoya would be that would cover this size of trellis, but it is quite decorative. I just bought my first hoya and am thinking of trying it on the copper trellis....See Morelaminate on bathroom vanity (advise to do-it-yourselfer please)
Comments (3)I think pre-made laminate counters can be had quite cheaply. Looked it up, Lowe's website has a 6 foot laminate ready to install for $67. YOu'd have to cut the hole for the sink though. Still has to be easier than buying supplies and tools and attempting it yourself, and maybe messing up...I'm sure they could tell you what to cut it with. You can rent the proper saw if you need to (from them or rental places)Depot's site didn't list any, but I know they have them. Also, try Craigslist.com , you might get lucky! http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=142966-1110-4724116L&lpage=none Here is a link that might be useful: counters...See More"Cheap-ish" Trellis Ideas?
Comments (18)Heya, I understand it will be hard to tie them together as it would be slippery - makes sense. I will give it a shot - if that doesn't work I'll try the netting option. I did see a couple of successful Teepees made from PVC - but I won't kid myself I know it will be hard. Yeah I definitely plan on using the twine in the Teepee to allow the plants to climb up. I plan on "training" the plants for that. I got the idea from the following picture: http://cf.happinessishomemade.net/wp-content/uploads/blogger/-rJV3G6Okn8I/UVPXXehmPEI/AAAAAAAAOWY/XlURQ8Fn2sE/s1600/How-to-build-construct-a-bean-tepee-teepee-tipi.jpg That being said @Daninthedirt are you saying I can't use twine but need to use metal netting? I'm getting 10 feet PVC pipes so I plan on pushing at least 1-2 feet into the ground - won't that provide enough stability? Any thoughts on the sun issue - see my previous post Again thanks and any advice is appreciated!!...See Moreteepee/slanted trellis ideas needed
