what else can I do with jalapenos?
Comments (15)I haven't tried the bread & butter, but from looking at the recipe I think the relish will be sweeter and it has the typical mixed pickling spices ( a bit of all spice, cinnamon, etc). Also the B&B are jalapenos are thin sliced and the relish is fine chopped or ground (I use the food processor)... I use it just as I would sweet pickle relish. It is awesome in tuna/potato(or pasta) salad. If you have a few jalapenos left over, try this ... it's not for canning, but is dyn-o-mite. SHRIMP AFTERBURNERS Makes 6 servings Source: Southern Living Serve with a spicy queso dip 12 unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp 12 jalapeño peppers 6 slices bacon -halved lengthwise Peel and devein shrimp. Cut a slit in each jalapeno pepper; remove seeds and membranes. Carefully place one shrimp in cavity of each pepper. Wrap each pepper with 1 bacon piece and secure with a wooden pick. Place on a jelly roll pan. Broil 5 1/2" from heat for 6 to 7 minutes on each side, or until bacon is cooked. Serve warm....See MoreWhat do you do when you pay a lot of money?
Comments (6)I grow Galaxy, no problems at all with it, in fact it's one of my better growing streakers, has kept the streaking beautifully. You do have to keep an eye on all the streaked ones though just in case they start to revert to something unstreaked in which case you remove that part of the hosta. I don't do anything special with the more pricey ones, they all go into the ground, don't really have a vole problem though. I do know of a couple of places where Galaxy is cheaper than that. Comments (6)Well, I made one pint. I took 2 cups white vinegar, .5 cup honey, .5 cup canning salt and boiled that to go in. It only took about half. I love how you can pack the jar til you can't get any more in, then after a 20min hwb the jar is 1/3 empty. Prepped stuffed canned...See MoreVery sparse yard with lots of clover and dandelions- What do I do?
Comments (2)I'm in iowa. The clover was clearly the result of whatever seed I laid last year- no grass came from it, but the clover (which had never been there before) took over as soon as I laid it. The yards all around me (new construction, all within the past 3 years) all have great grass. Mine is suffering because it never really took off- you can even see the netting that was in the sod. It basically just dried up and died after it was laid because it wasn't watered. Also, the backyard looks fine, since I got it to grow using the method I mentioned (laid seed, rolled the straw roll "sheets" over it, watered it a lot) so I guess I will do that in the front, but I wondered if there was a more attractive option rather than just cover my yard in those sheets for a couple of weeks. I don't have a watering schedule because (now) we get adequate rain, and the backyard and the neighbors' yards all thrive without being watered. I put this on just now: http://www.lowes.com/pd_646461-303-489119___?productId=50450356&pl=1&Ntt=weed+feed I'll wait 3 weeks as they recommend and do what I did in the back yard....See More- 11 years ago
