Cuba may be far from perfect, but they do indeed have a lot more going for them economically, educationally, etc. than a number of their Caribbean neighbors. Actually, John, you don't have the right to post/say anything you want on this forum. There are a number of rules, and while not all are consistantly enforced, one can be banned from participating here if one posts in a manner considered inappropriate by the site managers. Yep, it's America, and we have to right to free speech, but we don't have the right to say or do whatever we want wherever and whenever we want. Some things are appropriate in some places, but not in others. A guy in a Speedo at the pool is fine, but I don't want my little daughter's school teacher coming to work in such attire. When we're on someone else's turf, we have to play by their rules...and in this case, majority rule can be a good thing. When others share similar standards, it makes for a place where we feel comfortable. (Now, arresting someone for wearing an anti-war T-shirt is unconscionable, but that's another matter!) As to being a religious thing, I believe the poster who initiated thread this is an agnostic.

I almost always have several "investigators" on my lid. On the days they aren't any on the lid, I see evidence that they have been there. It's normal for them to move around a lot. The majority of them should be down where they belong, feeding. I always get a kick out of seeing a balled up mass of them feeding on some tidbit. I've found that cabbage, cauliflower, and green peppers can smell quite strongly for a few days. They'll decompose quicker if you shred them up in the food processer first. I now tend to add those particular items in smaller doses, although I didn't really have a problem with them getting nasty. One time I had a bunch of green peppers go bad,so I fed them shredded up to my worms. All I could smell when I walked in the room was green peppers for about 3 days. Go easy on spaghetti, cereals, or flour products. Add those in small quantities. The worms love them and get quite fat eating them, but too much at once will make your bin smell pretty badly for a week or so. They tend to get gluey, and unless you like sewer smell, go easy on it. Freeze portions of those and dole them out gradually. I usually mix them in with chunky pieces of celery and carrots. I always put a thick layer of shredded newspaper, (or other paper), on top of all the food. Then I sprinkle some water on it (lightly) to moisten it. Keeps the flies, etc. out of the bin. It's very satisfying when you finally harvest your first batch of compost. It's also fun when the worm family grows and there are all sorts of ages of worms in there, from tiny, tiny, babies to big fat adults, and everything in between. I noticed a lot of the worms that roam around in the lid, etc. appear to be what I would classify as teenager size. Sandy

From my experience, finishing several basements and remodeling several others. Here's what I've come up with... Donts- -Don't put a vapor barrier directly against the concrete wall -Don't fasten drywall directly to a concrete wall -Take care of any moisture problems before hand(If necessary use a concrete sealant, and/or put in drainage around the exterior footing. Dos- -Check local building codes -If using foam against the concrete, use something that will allow the concrete to breath. The best product seams to change often, so ask around. -Insulate against the outside plate, above the foundation, between floor joists. This will alleviate cold floors in the winter. -Use treated lumber along all concrete surfaces, with a vapor barrier between the concrete and framing. -Frame out from the wall far enough to plumb the wall(Use a minimum of 2x4 framing) -Insulate with bare face mineral (fiberglass insulation) -Staple a 6 Mil vapor barrier to the studs -Use paperless mold resistant drywall if you have any fears of flooding or other mold inducing problems. I have had some people tell me that the 6 Mil vapor barrier isn't a good idea in their area, due to the humidity etc... Here in the northwest, I have never had a problem with it.

It's not anything that is known in these parts, But a large store about 50 miles from here had some. I bought about 5 lbs, and really "pigged out" (for lack of a better term) that night. I have the rest in meal sized packages in the freezer. I use them as a 'reward' for myself when I accomplish something I've been dreading doing! "I don't get it. Fish is fish. I WANT it to taste like fish. I don't want it to taste like beef, chicken, or anything else. " I agree with that 100%, too. I like to 'eat healthy', and I try to most of the time. But I am not willing to torture myself with food I don't like. If I were intent on giving up red meats, I would try to find something that I enjoyed To replace it with. As many have mentioned above, There are a number of very mild tasting fish. Preparing/serving them with a highly seasoned sauce might do the job for you. Good luck in your quest. Rusty
