Lots of work done
Comments (22)I have a 60'x95' garden that I reclaimed from the yard last year. Is your most recent photo showing all of the tilled area. Looks a little narrow to be 60' wide but the length looks right. It is my "main" garden but I also have a 30'x40' "flower garden" and another 100 by 100+ ft garden that is the "back garden." The main 60'x95' garden is by no means big enough and I already almost have it full. Thankfully, I have the back garden for overflow and what I don't use of that garden I'm going to cover with manure and straw and let it set a few years. I do almost all my work with a 9" wide mantis tiller, push mower, and 18" wide Husqvarna rear tine tiller so I know how much work it is. This year I am mulching with cardboard covered by leaves of straw. It is taking a lot of straw (free from the family farm I live on) and a lot more prep time to plant as I have to plant a row and then lay down a row of straw and cardboard before planting the next row, but it should be worth it. With gardens that big, its impossible to keep up with weeding when I work a full time job. Made myself crazy last year trying. I would also suggest keeping the grass around the perimeter of your garden mowed really short to keep things from seeding so close to your garden. I have the same situation with my back garden (it being surrounded by tall grass/weeds) and need to try to get on top of mowing that this year. I will try to remember to post some photos and maybe take some new ones tonight since it rained 2 inches and I can't walk in the garden yet!...See MoreGot an x-ray done today
Comments (3)I had a "dexascan" a few weeks ago. My bone density is good, but what bothered me is that--according to the height measurement thing in the doctor's office--I've lost 1/2"! I was aways 5'4", but this measurement said 5'3 1/2"! BUMMER!! I have good posture, but guess I'll have to stand a little straighter in the future. :>( I've always wished I were a few inches taller, anyway; I sure don't like getting shorter....See MoreGot camera happy today...lots of pics
Comments (4)Oh, Karen. I wasn't bored at all. I was totally enthralled by the ever changing colors. The first 2 daylilies are fantastic, whatever their true color. I understand wanting to share all of this beauty with someone who can appreciate it. My husband is not a gardener at all, but is so sweet to walk outside with me when I want to show him something. Bless his heart, he tries to show enthuriasm the best way he can. Plus he lets me garden as much as I want. Please keep posting your beautiful pictures.
