Plywood to raise kitchen cabinet height: how? X-post Remodeling

I'm baaack!
:)

We removed our old kitchen cabinets (waiting for
installation schedule, but the new cabs have been delivered to KD), and would
like to raise our new cabinets by 1/2" -- the height of the current tile
from the slab -- that tiles are staying:

We have an J-ish kitchen, so cabs
turn the corner up top, run another 7' to the right -- cabinet/sink/DW -- then
turn another similar corner for the final 30" cabinet.

We're doing granite, and I'd like a continuous piece where
the sink meets the window sill (blue outline):

Pictured above (and below) is work done by a previous
company. We used 2 cm granite with 3/4" plywood decking installed on top
of the cabinets (and a 1/4" backer board along the sill to make up for the
height difference):

A few weeks ago, we decided to go
with 2cm granite again, but our fabricator recently found 3 cm
(leathered/brushed Black Pearl), and we switched to that. Now we realize the
cabinets will be ~ 1/2" lower than the window sill. Since 3 cm doesn't require plywood deck, I think we'll need to raise the
cabinets themselves (even with the height of the tile). I don't want to add
plywood on top of the cabinets, as a laminated edge on 3cm granite would look
too heavy.

I've found all over the internet that
plywood can be used to elevate the cabinets all the way around. But no one says
exactly how. And there's back and forth debate about what type of plywood.

DH and I will DIY the plywood
(1/2"), but need to know how these pieces should be installed before the
cabinets arrive. Is it a matter of laying down large pieces to insert onto the
slab?

Thanks much!
