Horrible long-term experience with Fisher Paykel single oven
Comments (11)Bicyclegirl, at this point I am not willing to spend any more money on repairs. The key electronic parts of the oven were all exchanged two years ago. Essentially it is a lemon that needs to be replaced. As far as dadoes raving reviews of FP appliances go, of course, there is a range of experiences between consumers. I have no experience with FP washing machine, dish drawer, etc., but I can say that the performance of my refrigerator is at best marginal. It simply does not cool enough. This is under-written by a recent US consumer reports that did not include the FP refrigerator in the test results because they were too pathetic (I believe July 2013 edition). And, for that matter, my cook top's ignition is on auto-pilot and will just fire away when a certain plate it on, but I am not willing to have this repaired at this point. So there you have it, 0 for 3 on FP appliances, with the oven the absolute worst....See MoreLooking for reviews of Fisher Paykel appliances.
Comments (45)I've only spent a couple hours so far researching F&P for a potential range purchase, and what I've found seems to imply that the company has taken a nosedive in the last few years. Consumer affairs dot com had the company rated at something like four out of five stars, but all the reviews in the last three or four years were all one- or two- stars, mostly for complaints about impossibility of getting parts, service, or response of any kind. I was really disappointed, since I just saw a FP range that I really liked, and was thinking of buying. One person claimed that the FP policy was to only carry parts for FOUR years, so that's a terrible policy change for the worse right there. BIG middle finger to their customers. So it looks to me like they have good engineers and designers, but enough bad management and bad policy to tip the scales in the wrong direction. That leaves too much to luck, given the price point. Too bad, really......See MoreFisher Paykel Dish Drawers
Comments (25)loved my dish drawers in my last house. I could kick myself for not doing the same in my new house even though I really love my Bosch. I loved the ease of not bending over And pulling out racks after opening the door. I bought mine locally and they had an installer that was an expert at all things dishdrawer. His opinion was that most problems that folks had with this DW had to do with installation. something you said bothered me. ”Great suggestion but that is not an option. The nearest place is 400 miles round trip.”. There is no way I would purchase ANY appliance no matter how badly I wanted it without good, local, easily accessible service. No way....See MoreWhy did Fisher Paykel make their dish drawers worse?
Comments (3)There have been several design changes since the 605 series, including changes to the pump and filter. Maybe a bit more space is needed beneath the rack which gives less above it. Older racks may not work. Best to compare them before attempting to buy old-style racks to try. One change that puts me off is all the cycles (even Heavy) have no more than 3 water changes ... one wash, two rinses My DD603 will be 18 years tomorrow. I considered replacingit 3 / 4 years ago to get one with an onboard water softener but opted to repair instead. The only change I wish it had is adjustable height on the side shelves but the redesign on that to allow sliding them up/down apparently interferes with the utility of placing items on them, per Paul_MA's info above....See Morekitchengirl
