Comments (1)I had really bad bursitis in both hips. I took ibuprofen and naproxen, but it didn't help much. I had a very expensive prescription-only cream and that didn't help much either. I had physical therapy - same story. What worked is that I had an appendectomy and the forced rest cured me. I am very afraid of it coming back so I am trying to be really careful about my exercise this go-round....See MoreGSD has allergies...any advice? (long)

I don't want to scare you but my 12-year-old dog had a patch of scaly skin and hair loss and it turned out she had a bacterial and fungal infection and skin cancer. The best thing would be to have allergy testing done to find out the source of the allergic reactions. Barring that I would recommend using a limited ingredient grain free diet. A limited ingredient diet is one with a shorter ingredient list which usually uses only one type of meat as the protein source. This way if your dog continues to have a reaction to the food you can narrow down the possibilities of what is causing the reaction because there is a small ingredient list. Keep in mind that it can take several weeks before you see a difference when trying a new food. Some examples of good diets of this type: Natural Balance Potato and Venison Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Fish BLUE Fish and Sweet Potato California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato Canine Caviar Venison and Pea Pinnacle Trout and Sweet Potato Honest Kitchen Force For the psoriasis type spots I would ask your vet if they carry a line of products called Douxo Calm. This line includes a shampoo, spray and spot treatment for allergic dermatitis. I have used their other product, Douxo Seborrhea, on two dogs for different skin issues and it worked REALLY well. If your vet doesn't carry it, see if they can look it up for you and if they think it is ok to use, then you can order it online....See MoreAnyone with bad hips here recommend a mattress that won't hurt?
Comments (44)Hi-it is http://www.memoryfoam.com/ My paperwork has Mark's 1/2 Price Bedding on the top. We bought ours in 2004. We have the #24084 King Del Ray Mattress Kit with a #200753 King Talalay Latex 3" Core 35 ILD. So basically I think it arrived and I wanted it to be firmer or softer? do not remember and they talked with me and advised the 3" and it was perfect. They were great to work with-they did not get my order out promptly-a glitch as they were moving or remodeling or soemthing. But when I called they had it out that very day. I did a ton of research -including figuring out where it was manufactured etc. There a lot of temperapedic knockoffs but what you can learn when you get into it is that there are only a few factories that make the product like T. and you can go from there and save $$. See if this site has their question and answer section-it was very helpful. They also will chat with you on the phone....See MoreHave you had a rotator cuff tear or shoulder tendonitis/bursitis?
Comments (43)So much like my story! I'm right handed and it's the right shoulder of course. I've been fastening my bra around my waist also. I'm also a side sleeper and I sleep on the bad shoulder, but in a position where it doesn't hurt, and on an extremely soft pillow. I tried sleeping on my left side with my arm propped just a bit. but it's just too painful. Plus, if I sleep on my good side, pulling up the covers with my bad shoulder is almost impossible! It doesn't matter what side I sleep on, when I wake up the arm won't move because it seems to freeze. It takes a few minutes for it to move again. If I got a dollar for everytime I say "Ouch!" during the day I'd be rich! lol. For now I'm going to take it day by day and wait until after the new year to make a decision. Thank you for explaining what you went through. Just remember, if you ever need a medical test done, let the tech know in advance about your shoulder. :)...See More- 11 years ago
