window treatment advice
Comments (5)My daughter picked the rug some time ago and while it goes well w random second hand furniture we've accumulated (funds have been tight w me being a sahm mom) Ive always seen something more like walnut woods, a rug w browns and blues or grey instead of the reds and greens in the current rug, that give things a very 80s vibe w the old oak trim. I would love things to feel a bit more modern. I tried to bring things up a notch w the black picture frames and thought about taking down the shade in the front window and getting some room darkening or light filtering grommet curtains, w some sheers behind them since the front window lets in loads of light and heats up the house alot. Also this room is open to our kitchen whos theme does not go with living room at all. Husband insisted on yellow walls in there, grey vinal tile, painted white cabinets (old homeowner built them in place) w gold knobs and black countertops which is a whole other story! Ill be posting those pics next! Ive been wanting to repaint since I first saw the yellow on the walls!...See Moreneed window treatment advice!
Comments (34)Like others, I don’t see “black trim.” I see black accents. And they look great! The question is…do you want to add more black and make that dominant? Then go black and white buffalo check curtains in the living area and a matching Roman blind in the kitchen. Or mix it up with black and camel. Or…add a natural element with a sea grass blind with black tapes in the kitchen (a natural element), and draperies that coordinate with that (and include a touch of black in the fabric) in the living area. Then, add green plants or art or some bold color in the form of accessories, bowls, a colorful mixer, etc. to your counters. You have a beautiful kitchen. You haven’t begun to live in it, yet! Go for it!...See MoreWindow treatment advice
Comments (3)Your style is not modern so I would not worry that a roller shade won't look finished enough. I also have black windows, I chose my roller shade fabric to blend in with my walls. No one even sees them until I lower them. I had a local blind store come and measure, well worth the wait and cost to have them made out of great quality....See MoreI need backsplash help. Comments (9)are the walls and ceiling the same biscuit color? Its some work but I'd pay painters to change all that .....probably before anything else. You have a basic white slab cabinet door / med to darker wood floor so a very light off white /just neutral or gray green undertone so you arent making a statement. the one fixture over the table could perhaps go over the island and getsomething else over the table.or start from scratch and get a pendant or two for the island and coordinating fixture for the table. lighti fixtures and lighter paint will do a lot.... is there a chance of ceiling recessed light plan...in the kitchen? if you tend to the lighting along w the paint project I think youll be pleased what that does....then the tile for the splash/ optional solar shade at the window....shown-lighter wall colors...not stark white...will allow whatever you want w tiles...look at the dining zone compared to your dining spot..same floor..same window size but yours is so much darker due to the medium paint you have....See More3katz4me
