Neptune fish fertilizer does not use Menhaden, but uses discarded
Comments (1)I was so glad to read this since I'm the one who brought up this concern, obviously before I had informed myself thoroughly. I apologize if I've misled anyone, but have to say I'm very happy to know that fish fertilizer is environmentally friendly, and this article was very informative. It's sad that apparently here too government driven by big business concerns has also hurt family businesses. Fishing for a living is extremely hard and often dangerous, and I admire the families who have made their living this way for generations. Ingrid...See MoreIs my pickle recipe safe? :S
Comments (13)I don't understand. You say you didn't want a quick pickle recipe and you didn't want to use a packaged mix but that is exactly what the recipe link you used is - a quick pack using a packaged mix. Maybe there are some basic misunderstandings here. First, there are basically 4 ways to make pickles: fermented, quick pack, refrigerated, or one of the pre-packaged mix. All of them are different, all require different levels of acidity, and they are not inter-changeable. If you want to process them for self storage then you have 3 choices: fermented, quick pack or a mix. If you can't use one of the packaged mixes you are left with fermented or quick pack using your own seasoning mix. If you used the PYO instructions you linked but did NOT use the packaged mix then your pickles are likely unsafe for shelf storage because the mixes contain citric acid for acidification to make them safe. No citric acid means you have to use much more vinegar - like 2x as much. One of the drawbacks of using Ball recipes is that they suggest only their products in the process. I am celiac so I don't use mixes of things. None of the Ball Blue Book recipes even mentions using Ball products. Neither does NCHFP. Comments (0)Hi All, I haven't posted in a while but I need your help. If I had time I'd post my link from a while ago for the paper I have etc.,,,but no time since I have bunco at my house on Thursday!! (I know,,procastination got me here) Scenario,,,1/2 bath,,wallpaper: cream bkgrnd,,country french print in red(ish) that has swirls and flower boquets all in this red. I just love it up, looks great,,about to finish today!! I'm going with a red (matched) ceiling in beadboard due to having to cover that ugly box light that came out of ceiling to have the electrical into the wall above sink...I can always flip this on the reverse side and paint the matched cream before I install if I hate the red. 2 Questions: 1) Should the crown molding match the paint color on the ceiling or the cream that is painted on the cabinets, door/frame and base boards? 2) Technical question: I discovered in my prep work that there is a 2-3" space between window and corner that the dry wall will have to be replaced due to moisture etc. (We just ordered new windows, so I'm inclined to let that ride until they come out and we get into the sill etc.) The Question part is,,,,,A) Should I wallpaper up to it, leaving couple inches on each side and CUT the piece from ceiling to counter before I paste it (so it's an exact match when I later put it up OR....B) Should I not cut it and just paste part of the paper that will be hung on the wall (adjacent wall that meets in the corner) and just fold it back, unpasted, until the wall problem is fixed then it will be pasted and stuck on the wall since the other rt side of paper is already on the wall and attached,,,can you picture this (if I had time I'd put up a photo)...??? (On the second option I thought maybe it would hide that little area temporarily),,,the wall problem on the drywall is just that top layer. Help ASAP if you can...Thanks so much,,,Nicole...See MoreRemoving labels from library discards
Comments (16)For the call-number labels on hardback spines, I have a two-step approach. First, I use Goo-Gone on a q-tip to remove the upper layers. Let dry. Second, I use Goof-Off on a q-tip to remove the lower layers, which contain an adhesive that heat-bonds with the cloth on the cover. Use Goof-Off in a well-ventilated area! Soak a cotton tip, swab the layer, and then rub it gently; several applications may be needed to remove all of the bonded adhesive. Let dry in the same well-ventilated area. (And I'm not joking about the need for circulating fresh air.)...See Morerob333 (zone 7b)
