WALLPAPER experts,,,question about crown molding/tech. ???s

Hi All, I haven't posted in a while but I need your help. If I had time I'd post my link from a while ago for the paper I have etc.,,,but no time since I have bunco at my house on Thursday!! (I know,,procastination got me here)

Scenario,,,1/2 bath,,wallpaper: cream bkgrnd,,country french print in red(ish) that has swirls and flower boquets all in this red. I just love it up, looks great,,about to finish today!! I'm going with a red (matched) ceiling in beadboard due to having to cover that ugly box light that came out of ceiling to have the electrical into the wall above sink...I can always flip this on the reverse side and paint the matched cream before I install if I hate the red.

2 Questions: 1) Should the crown molding match the paint color on the ceiling or the cream that is painted on the cabinets, door/frame and base boards?

2) Technical question: I discovered in my prep work that there is a 2-3" space between window and corner that the dry wall will have to be replaced due to moisture etc. (We just ordered new windows, so I'm inclined to let that ride until they come out and we get into the sill etc.)

The Question part is,,,,,A) Should I wallpaper up to it, leaving couple inches on each side and CUT the piece from ceiling to counter before I paste it (so it's an exact match when I later put it up OR....B) Should I not cut it and just paste part of the paper that will be hung on the wall (adjacent wall that meets in the corner) and just fold it back, unpasted, until the wall problem is fixed then it will be pasted and stuck on the wall since the other rt side of paper is already on the wall and attached,,,can you picture this (if I had time I'd put up a photo)...??? (On the second option I thought maybe it would hide that little area temporarily),,,the wall problem on the drywall is just that top layer.

After trying about 50 yellows, we used Powell Buff by Benjamin Moore. In our setting it reads as a soft yellow. I have read that Monroe Bisque reads yellow on the wall too. Good luck with your project.

Maybe after you move in we can see the other two walls in your bedroom, along with a floor plan that has measurements. That would help us help you. What about putting the bed on the left wall that has the pictures hung on it? As for the "crown;" if it really is crown, you could replicate it on the other side of the room. You can do it more cheaply by mimicking the pattern of it with trim pieces put together to get the look. Look for DIY faux crown online. Maybe this was originally two rooms that someone opened up. You could treat the crowned section as a tray ceiling and repeat that on the other side too. Not many Houzzers are big wallpaper fans and I can't advise on that. Move in, prime the walls so there is no color distraction and pull out your bedding so we can help you find the right paint color.

Hi Everyone!! Forgive me, I din't know what I am doing here. Hope this works! Its Deb with updates to my Family Room project after all your wonderful feedback. Before you comment, yes the curtains are shorter but that is because I am having Crown Molding added in a couple of weeks. And its not the exact rug I had selected either. I ordered two rugs; rug I had originally selected called "Beige" and the other "Cream", I felt that the beige rug was a little to brown and didn't blend as nicely as the cream one I selected. The curtains drive me crazy with the wrinkles, it took forever to iron and then I hang them and they are wrinkled again. I ordered a hand steamer and once it arrives I will have at those curtains again. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank all of you for all of your responses and recommendations, especially those that worked late in the night helping me select a rug!! :) Without all of you I wouldn't have this new, bright, inviting look to my family room. I have had work done recently in my home and the compliments I received was incredible and coming from both men and women on top of that. I owe my sincere gratification to you all!

Hahaha Jan yes I am well aware of your skill in this area. It’s much appreciated 😊. I think I just didn’t want to consider it because the budget for the project was already BIIIIGGG and I swore to myself that I absolutely would not exceed it. My experience is that small amounts of extras add up to big overages fast. But as things continued to progress here I can really see that it would be stupid to plan to wait a few years to take out the soffit and change out the lighting - it will be cheaper in the long run to just bite the bullet and do it now. Do you think I should do a vanity light fixture over the mirror (there’s not room on either side) and an actual fixture for the ceiling light, or should I stick to recessed lighting in the ceiling (not in a soffit)? One recessed light doesn’t seem like enough, more seems like a lot in that little room, and I’m not sure where to locate them. So I’m inclined to do a simple but nice ceiling fixture with two bulbs in it, and then a two or three bulb wall fixture over the mirror.
