Call All Herbs Can Be Planted Together?
Comments (9)[smiles about the Triffids] FataMorgana that reminds me of 5 years back, the first summer with my husband who had no experience with gardens or yardwork but was very enthusiastic about my organic gardening. In June/July of that year I received a groaning/sobbing phone call at work from my husband that went something like this: "...I'm so sorry hon, I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything about it, they're dead, they're all dead...(choking/gulping sounds now coming over the phone.) I am now in terrible dread thinking that my sheltie dogs got loose and were killed by a car. "I tried to stand them up again but they just fell over, they're dead. There's dead TRIFFIDS in the yard everywhere." Now at the word TRIFFID I snapped out of my grieving for what I thought was a call about my dogs and said "HUH?" Alan continued "there was a terrible storm with wind and hail, I dunno maybe it was even a tornado and now all of your TRIFFIDS are dead." I said "Hmmmm....ah, honey, what is a TRIFFID?" Alan said "I don't know what they are, you know those huge tall flowers you have all around the yard with the big yellow flowers, they look like the TRIFFIDS from that Sci-Fi movie from way back." I'm hooting and laughing now "You mean SUNFLOWERS?" He says "YES!" LOL, TRIFFIDS in MY yard, ie SUNFLOWERS....See MoreHow to tie together a kitchen with too many different neutrals?
Comments (26)I personally would go bold with paint color. Maybe something earth toned..yellow or green. I would say blue, but it may start getting to dark with the one window. Go get bunches of paint chips and see what works with the cabs and bricks. I think once you paint the right color, the hutch will work too. I would also add some lighting if that can be done easily to keep it bright and inviting. And I love the openness and lived in worked in kitchen feel. Way nicer than the fake never been touched kitchens I see so often. I wouldn't close off the pantry closet unless your going to put food in there. And I wouldn't get tons of bins either. I have tons of open shelving right now also, and the only thing I use bind for are small things like cookie cutters and popsicle molds, things I need to keep from running away. I believe your new to these forums. You should read through some threads before taking advice or taking anything to heart. Some people have much different styles than you will, and some people will say anything thinking you asked for a critic not help decorating. I have found to just not take it to heart and take as much great advice as I can get and move on, there is some really fantastic advice here and some really great people also. Good luck, I think you have a great starting point. Your kitchen already looks better than my work in progress diy project 4 years in....See MoreWould my selection tie together?
Comments (6)I like your combination, it will come out great! I was going to go for this combo for my masterbath. Better than all gray/white. Wall color: I like your choice, make sure it works with the way the room is place. ex: north, south, etc......See MoreHelp! How do a tie this all together?
Comments (15)You don’t need to paint the house a similar shade as the garage doors. The doors are very close in tone to the windows, so they already correlate. If you live far to the north, a dark exterior will help assist your heating system on sunny winter days, but if you depend on air conditioning in the summer, dark walls paired with the near black roof will have an effect on the efficiency of the cooling system. Consider how much contrast you need between the dark roof, windows and garage doors vs. walls vs. trim. As for the bathroom window, you could put a medium tint film on the inside and then put a frosted film behind it and enjoy light and privacy at the same time. the tint will obscur the frost making the window just dark from the outside. during the day and working with the frost at night....See Moredefrost49
