adding new slides to an antique dresser?

I know this may not be the best forum for this, but I also know some of you are pretty talented woodworkers/DIYers.

I'm contemplating buying an antique dresser and converting it to a bathroom vanity. I've looked at many online videos and think I can do it fairly easily. However, none of them seem to deal with the drawer issues.

All old drawers use wooden slides and are often sticky and wobbly. I'd like to add new modern glides to the bottom of the drawers. I even saw someone add blocking to the inside sides of an old cabinet so they could add side mount glides.

Has anyone done this? Advice?

Don't want to get myself into an overly complex project especially since most of my tools are missing in action after the fire.
