Adding bleach to dishwasher soap
Comments (10)Thanks, my wife also hates bleach... or any cleaning fragrance, we have to use the "free" laundry soap. She can smell the other soap even after the garment has been air dried in bright sunshine on the old fashioned cloths line. I grew up with bleach and lots of other bad stuff, DDT comes to mind, and I'm still alive an "kicking" at 73. Your ideas on how to do a per-item clean-and-shine is worth keeping a record of, albeit the text within the parenthesis is a bit garbled - seems to just be a problem with the fraction generation. Maybe it is better if you use 1/2 rather than pre-cast, my keyboard doesn't have one on its printed display, but I seem to recall seeing the 1/2 and maybe 1/4 on keys somewhere else. I do like vinegar and peroxide for cleaning... the latter I use in my ears to remove wax. My doctor recommended vinegar and rubbing alcohol 50/50. I will try some other brands of dish washer soap, I think the manufacturer recommends one of the tablets. I prefer to use a more economical powder. Our little Westie (Terrier) has a white plastic tray, but the dishes are stainless steel. They are easy to clean and he gets mostly kibble, but we have taken to adding a oz or two of low fat chicken broth... he likes that and he is missing several teeth, we had to have one removed a couple of months back - he is a rescue dog and had some rough times, lost most of his hearing to a yeast infection the vet thinks was the cause. I'll guess a Mastiff eats as much kibble in one bite as our little Westie eats in a day. We're still trying to find a weight control kibble that he will like/eat. His past near starvation makes him a "good" eater. Hum, seems I changed the subject of this thread, but I was my start so... love to talk about dogs. I just came across a great Youtube of two dogs dining. I can send along if you'd like to watch....See MoreSoap dispenser or no soap dispenser?
Comments (36)Can anyone recommend a dispenser with a LONG spout? The one we have now (Price Pfister) has an utterly useless 2" spout. I have found a 3 7/8" spout, also 3 1/2", but am wondering if there are any that are longer. The new sink is 10" deep. We weren't going to get a new soap dispenser, but after reading this thread, I thought, "I don't want ugly bottles on my new granite!" I could do a rack mounted on the sink cabinet door, but I think the dispenser is neater :-) It just needs a long spout so it can actually squirt dish soap into the pots, instead of dribbling down the side of the sink. Will definitely get a NeverMT--so glad that I heard of it here!...See MoreSurvey-Hand soap or dish soap in built-in dispenser?
Comments (28)I love my Never MT. We built a new house and put one in each bathroom, where I use hand soap(softsoap) and in the kitchen where I use dish soap. The only problem I've had is that in one bathroom, I had to replace the Never MT...it leaked at the valve. This has happened twice. But it's still worth it. Actually the first one was replaced by the manufacturer after 6 months use....See Moreadding soap to BT spray?
Comments (23)Barrie: My concern is that the dish soap might destroy many of the BT bacteria since soap has been credited lately as being superior to hand sanitizer as a bactericide. Washing hands with soap and water results in fewer live bacteria left on the hands than applying hand sanitizer with no hand washing. That's not the same as saying that soap is superior to hand sanitizer as a bactericide. I suspect that the mechanical action behind washing with soap and water and what soap does to dislodge bacteria on skin is what is more responsible than bactericidal properties of soap (which exist but are not very powerful). That would explain why washing with regular soap is no different than washing with antibiotic soap... and why hand-washing is only really effective when you scrub your hands well with the soap before rinsing (20 seconds is recommended by the CDC). I wouldn't worry too much about the small amounts of soap needed just to break surface tension in a spray solution in terms of a threat to the Bacillus, but I find that soap drastically increases the possibility of leaf burn in a way that surfactants specifically for plants, like Coco-wet, do not....See MoreRelated Professionals
