Comments (4)Not sure if you are looking for a "sell for" value or a claim on the tax valuation? And what they would bring also depends on who might be at the sale. In it's present condition, I doubt that the dresser will bring more than $250, in a barn sale. And the mirror is a pier mirror, likely once stood in a frame on the floor and tilted as needed to reflect up or down. Very nice piece, put again only part of the whole. At a barn sale, perhaps $125? Unless your crowd will really be looking to bid the moon for the benefit of the animals, I'm afraid that's all you can expect. Comments (6)My Aunt Marian had two of these in her living room. I loved them. As a 3 or 4 yr old child, I can remember digging my toes into her white flokati supershag rug, my hair tangled up in the blood red velvet drapery, staring up at the velvet bullfighter paintings on either side above the white vinyl foldout couch. I thought those lamps were where the tomatos came from to make her meatball sauce. (They were the same color). Man, I miss those meatballs! Her house was so cool!...See MoreValue of barns, chicken coops, fencing on suburban/rural properties?
Comments (10)Here, it depends on what you mean when you say "barn", LOL. There are $60,000 Barnmaster barns with a truck aisle & specialized stalls for stallions & foaling & so forth, & then there are ramshackle affairs made from, I suspect, dismantled pallets & spit. Your barn needs to have running water & a feed room, & if you have horses, a tack room & a horse wash (like a cross between a shower & a car wash). & separate pastures are almost mandatory if you have horses. I don't think cows care. Other, more humble outbuildings, like chicken houses, don't really add to the value, but a really nice one (lights, nesting boxes, etc) may help tip the scales to your property if a buyer is balancing a decision between your home & a competing one....See MoreWSJ: White Is 2016 Top Color But It Can Hurt Home Values
Comments (40)powermuffin lol, they remind me of the Pigpen character in Charlie Brown. My 10 yo grandson is a cross between Bear Grylls and "Pigman"...I only know of these people because hunting, fishing and survival shows are his passion. Sweet Sawyer is her own little free spirit that likes to chase butterflies, fireflies and pick flowers, but, follows her brother thru the woods like a loyal puppy. When Thatcher was younger I used to tease him that I'd have to pick him up by his ears and plop his nekkid self in the tub (too dirty to walk thur the house!) I can't truly appreciate her decorating style because it's so totally opposite from mine, but as long as she's thrilled with the outcome, that's all I care about. Here are a few pictures I took the other day. They're doing most of the inside work themselves (except for sheetrock and kit. cabs). She's going for an old OLD farmhouse using as much old OLD stuff she can find and/or build from old OLD stuff. She made most of the light fixtures. I hear she's making bathroom faucets but I haven't seen any yet The sloppy mortar job was left on purpose Someone forgot to spray the shower ceiling The "window" above the range area is an old door. It opens onto a covered patio that attaches the main cottage to the guest cottage. Step down into the vestibule that connects the main cottage to the master cottage. Floors are plywood cut in 10" width planks. Standing on the porch of the master cottage looking towards the porch of the main living area. LOTS of outdoor living space...master cottage porch, main porch, guest cottage porch and covered patio (with fireplace) between main house and guest house. The babies have 20 acres to run on :) Dining room Light above old OLD clawfoot tub. She got this at an auction. It's older than dirt but she rewired it, cleaned it up and painted it. The outside of the clawfoot tubs look a lot like the old OLD door at the top. I thought she would be refinishing the outside, but no :o BTW, DH (who is their contractor) dubbed this house the "Whitehouse" months ago <g>...See MoreJann
