Someone on another of these forums posted they were having same problem so I am now convinced it's Netscape's problem. To find a program (Explorer, Control panel etc) if you know the name simply start typing it while on the start page. All potential titles will appear in the top left side. click your choice. Take your mouse right into the lower right corner for a flyout with settings and devices. Click the Settings icon for Control panel. While there click Settings then click Change PC settings and a page with a whole raft of options appears allowing you to stop some of the garbage from running. Click on each title on the left side to view your choices. If you are in a program and want to see the start page simply go to the top left corner. The start page icons can be moved or removed as you want. Simply drag to the left all the lesser use ones then sort the ones you like into the order of your preference. To remove an icon right click and use the choices that appear on the bottom taskbar.

In my limited experience, 3G is often problematic. It's best not to use it unless you must, like in the car, or for those features which only work on 3G. It also saves you bandwidth to use wifi when available. It's possible that your 3G was running slow and timing out before the information made it to the site. Where I live, theoretically we have 3G on all networks and 4G on some, but in reality we're usually on the Edge network or equivalent, which makes it more or less impossible to use it for anything more than text email.

I used Firefox with my Macbook for years because I was not happy with Safari. Recently I decided to give Safari another chance, and I have to say that I it has greatly improved and seems to meet all my online needs. As far as finding things, I'm assuming you are referring to the search engine you are using (Google, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo, Bing, etc.) and not the browser (Safari, Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.). If that is what you mean, you can easily change the default search engine that Safari uses when you type a topic into the address bar. To make this change, simply go to Preferences in Safari, which is found in the dropdown menu under Safari, as in the dropdown you use to quit the app. You have the choice of 4 or 5 search engines you can choose from. My thinking is that for most instances, Safari is going to be the best browser to use, simply because it was created explicitly for use on a Mac. But as some of the other responses indicate, I too keep a couple of other browsers in my dock should I run into any issues with Safari, which is my default browser. The default browser-the one that opens any random links you might click on when you are not online, and can also be easily changed in System Preferences. Sorry if this is way too basic for you...
