Comments (11)I bought my supplies from Great Lakes IPM - they have a great selection and if you call them up you get great advice on the phone. I had to buy a many-year supply of the granulosis which was really expensive; I think you can get CydX from agriculturesoltions.com in a small quantity but per spray the Virosoft I bought is a lot cheaper (1/15th the price - they are the same per oz but Virosoft is much more concentrated). One 1.5 oz CydX bottle only gets you three gallons of spray. Since I have a lifetime supply of Virosoft I may be interested in selling some of mine. You need about 1 tsp for a 5-gallon backpack and I have 32 oz which is 200 backpack loads. Since I will be doing at most 10 backpacks per year I expect, thats a 20 year supply I bought. Drop me an email if you want an oz or two of my supply (each oz makes around 30 gallons of spray), I will sell it at my cost. I also bought several years worth of disruption lures from them; both the lures and the Virosoft can be stored for several years in the fridge (the former refrigerated and the latter frozen). You can tell if the lures are still good by smelling them, the pheromone is a sweet smell that is easy to recognize. Scott...See MoreHelp with hardwood and granite color selections?

Comments (44)blondelle: I want to thank you so much for all your hard work on these mockups! I do like the warmer mock up and I do think that the warmer travertine gives a French country feel. I actually did pick up some 3 x 6 tumbled marble from Turkey, which is beautiful. It blends in with the paint color that I currently have on the backsplash area. I'm going to have to be careful, though, because things can get too busy, but I agree that too much white in the backsplash can have a washed out appearance. palimpsest: I am going to investigate a quieter option for the countertop, too. Very early on, our local IKEA had a Corian that looked like sand on the beach. Also, I'm attracted to some of the engineered stones, even those stones that have a little sparkle in them. Part of me likes bling! jeanteach: I'm sort of going back and forth between a porcelain tile and natural stone. The beveled brick with the crackle is beautiful. I like the low maintenance of the porcelain tile because we do a lot of cooking in this household. I don't want it to be too washed out, though. gracesantacruz: Who did you use for your countertop fabrication? Would you recommend them? southernstitcher: thanks for chiming in, too :-) OMG will someone shoot me to put me out of my misery? I guess it is good to have options, though. Good news: Lowes refunded all my money for the granite countertop since I was so unhappy with Duracite, so at least I'm off the hook with them now, which is a relief. I went out with a girlfriend today for a short lunch break and we looked at some more options. I came up with an idea of going with a sand-like engineered stone it is called astro pearl by zodiac and then I saw some mini black pebbles that might be nice in a diamond shape, or perhaps some black glass? I'm still torn, I'm afraid and I think it's best for me to step back and take a break for a short while cuz it's a little too hot in the kitchen right now! I guess this how the design process goes and there are so many sides to me, so I'm conflicted arrgh......See MoreNeed Help with Granite Selection for my new kitchen
Comments (9)Good luck with the granite process! It can be overwhelming. I will be getting off-white cabinets and was looking like you for a granite with movement. My realtor friend steered me away from New Venetian Gold because she felt that speckles were on the way out. I wanted movement but not so so much. I narrowed it to Yellow River, White Spring (similar to Tphoon Bordeaux) and Solarus. I elminated the solarus because I worried that there was not enough contrast between the predominant background color (the color of masking tape) and the off-white cabinetry. Solarus had more clouds than movement and DH seemed to like the Yellow River best. I took the White Spring out of the running myself because of the pink/mauve colors. I remember the 80's when I had a modular sofa that it took me years to get rid of! I had seen a gorgeous bordeaux called Manhattan gold that didn't have the mauve but couldn't find enough slabs. So Yellow River it was for me. All I can say is if you have time keep going back because the places I went to (Fairfield County, CT) kept getting more slabs every week....See MoreEric
