Most succulents come from warm, arid and sunny areas. Only reason I can see one would do that if they were in unheated room with drafty windows - otherwise there is no reason to do that. I would make sure that leaves are not touching glass, but that is all. I have few overwintering on a windowsill, in a room that gets about 4 - 10*C (night - day). Those are kept dry - no watering until it gets warmer. Pls. give them all light you possibly can. Many of us in colder locations are using supplemental lights to help, since days are short and quite gray. If they are in temps min 15*C and higher, they will likely need some watering, but only when mix is almost totally dry deep inside of pot. It is also advisable not to keep them in cachepots that are so tight-fitting; there is no air circulation around pot with plant, and it may sweat and stay constantly wet. Water also collects inside cachepot and gets re-absorbed back, keeping them in mucky soil. Regardless exact name, they all need just about same growing conditions. Sooner you do that, better chance of plants surviving and thriving.

Now I can see :) Still, pretty good looking plant. You can propagate bottom leaves - while there is never 100% guarantee that they will sprout, there is a good chance. OTH, you can prune off top, leaving 2-3 old leaves on the stem and it is possible it will continue growing. Here is a photo of 2 leaves being propagated and bigger plants later on - you can see original leaf in bottom photo (top leaf is still there, but cut off the photo) - I leave them, until they completely dry up:

A leaf that chubby definitely came from a Pachyphytum or a hybrid. My guess would be Pachysedum ‘Ganzhou‘. Too small to know for sure;).
