Is your porch a space where you’re going to want to sit out ever? Or is it strictly for going in and out the door? I wouldn’t put a bench if it’s not a reasonable place to actually sit for a moment, it looks weird to me when someone has benches that are obviously just decoration and never used. I think primarily it just needs some color - a large interesting pot with some planting, perhaps a small table if you like the idea of a place to put your packages while you open the door. (I’d put the table to the right of the door, by the doorbell, so it does have to be fairly small.) Also, what area are you in? Is there anything that is handy to keep on the front porch? For example instead of a table we actually have a small cabinet as we have steps up to the front door and live in an area with snow. So we keep a small container of salt in the cabinet where it’s trivial to grab it and do the steps and walk on the way in or out if someone notices they’re getting bad but doesn’t have time to properly get out the shovel and big bag, and for in between proper shovel and big bag cleanings. We just found that we stay on top of it better if there’s a stash of salt easy to grab.

I saw many listings that would show both empty and staged, or as they are now-and digitally" updated", so one can see both. I think it might be helpful for many. I myself am okay with either way, as long as there are pictures. People here are usually very good with pictures. Which can't be said for some other markets-I bought an apartment abroad last year. and they'd have 5-6 pics very often, and half of them would show some mural in kids' bedroom, somehow omitting bathroom. Makes one want to to scream "where is the toilet??" The market is so hot many don't even bother with putting more pictures, or professional pictures, or decluttering a bit. I here got so used to seeing nice pictures that actually do give one an idea of te house -not seeing the restroom would be usually a sign the house must be gutted anyway. So i have a new appreciation for whatever pictures as long as they actually show the place in question.

Ha! Walking distance to the house in which I grew up. I agree with Lars, love the property, but you can have the rest. Looks like another house going up just up the road toward Stony Lane. Too much construction (and lousy construction as far as design) these days and since the 1980s in our (my former) area. The elevator is horrid and I agree that a wheelchair wouldn't fit. I have been thinking of where we could add one. Don't think it is possible, but better none than that one! Of course, that is why we bought a ranch with a walk out basement, so we could just have everything here on the main level when the time comes.
