new easy elegance flopping
I purchased 3 EE bushes (music box, como park, and sunrise sunset) at a local nursery this week. All are floppy and leaning, with rain they are on the ground. The owner at the nursery told me they would be more erect once planted in the ground. Should I be patient or support them with tomato cages so they are not on the ground. They have about 2 feet of growth and are blooming. I do not think they had the best care at the nursery as they were on display shelves not getting very much sunlight and crowded. I will try to post a picture of them now, this is them right after planting them. I had not watered them yet on the left is the como park leans to the, in the middle is music box with support, and the far right is sunrise sunset.

Easy Elegance Roses by Ping Lim?
Comments (18)I was attracted to this line of roses because they were advertised as being winter hardy and own root, so I purchased Sunrise Sunet, Kiss Me, Grandma's Blessing,Funny Face, and Fiesta two years ago. Fiesta throws long canes and didn't bloom much this summer, and Sunrise Sunset was SP'd last week due to RRD, but was a bloom machine before getting sick. I planted Funny Face next to Queen Elizabeth and she has grown tall and also is constantly in bloom. These roses shrugged off the ugly '07 Easter freeze without any permanent damage. I love these roses and plan to add the rest of the line to my garden. I purchased them from D.A. Comments (5)I cut all my lantanas back in the fall (right after the hard frost) and they all come back. They are much easier to deal with while the foliage is soft, once they totally dry up they are hard and very prickly. I usually cut myself then. The pink/yellow variety that is hardy is Mozelle. One year I rooted 2 dozen of these in the garage.... I will always have this now! Other hardy ones I have are Dallas Red, New Gold and of course, Miss Huff. Last year I tried another variety that I do not remember the name, sorry, but it was short and brightly colored with hot pink flowers and steel blue berries- the nursery swore it was hardy for this area but it did not return. Comments (14)Hi abwhitney: In lieu of an expensive frameless shower door, many people on this forum have opted for a shower curtain instead. You can get a curved shower curtain rod or a straight one and then a liner and the actual shower curtain. There are a lot of nice shower curtains with large grommets that will give a modern look and are machine washable. I saw a nice, clean white shower curtain with the big grommets at Lowes this weekend. In terms of a bathtub, I think Kohler has quite a few to choose from. If you have the room, I suggest you look at the Kohler expanse tub. It's acrylic and easy to clean. I agree with pricklypearcactus in that large ceramic 10 x 13 or porcelain tiles will be easier to clean and much more low maintenance than marble or natural stone. Many tile manufacturers make ceramic and porcelain tile that mimic the natural stones quite nicely. For ventilation purposes, many on this forum recommend the Panasonic Whisper vent fan. I'm not where the intersection of modern versus contemporary lies for you, but Duravit and IKEA make wonderful vanities for space constrained areas. Comments (18)Hi Sharon I got Calypso at a local garden center, as well as Lowe's this year. In fact, Lowe's had tons of them among about 6 other Easy Elegance roses. I think you need to look locally for most of the EE roses, since the don't seem to be working with many online vendors. The good news is that Lowe's had them for maybe $15 a pot for a large plant. In terms of size, I'd planted these at the front of that bed thinking it would stay small (it's listed as around 3' in height). I'd say mine is getting taller than this once mature, and in fact some of the canes are over 4', but they flop over a bit so it still works OK in the front. Mine have been as compact and tidy as Patty's when young, but seems to spread out a bit more as it matures. Patty's picture is way more gorgeous than my photos, and most of mine are a year or two old. I'll post two pictures to give an idea of color variation, and one to show the size of an immature bush. It's listed as an apricot, and sometimes it has the most beautiful apricot tones: Other times it can go quite pink and I wonder "what is that rose"? The impatiens below the bloom are that vivid coral orange-pink, to give a sense of reference. In the hot summer, Calypso tends to pink out: And in hot weather it can fade a fair bit, but not as badly as some apricots. 8 years agolast modified: 8 years agoI have all 3. MB flops a little for me, CP doesn't flop at all & SS is a ground cover so will grow about 2' tall & then will lay down on the ground to grow 2-3' more. SS picture below:

I got better pictures. 1st is CP, the 2nd is SS, and the 3rd is MB. After seeing wirosarian's picture of SS it maybe normal sprawling for this rose I didn't realize it's habit so I may need to rethink my layout as it won't fill in like I imagined. But the out 2 are defiantly leaning to one side. Should I support them with tomato cages so they don't lay on the ground when it rains?
As far as the rose slugs, I tried picking them off and spraying them with hose but in a couple days they had my KO devoured. I was hoping to do something to prevent it next year.
