Friends & Family Won't Stop Asking, "So how's the house coming along?"

We've had our land for 4 1/2 years now, and we were anticipating building in 2014, but of course nothing ever goes according to plan. After all the hoops we had to jump through after we thought we were good to go, we didn't actually "break ground" until just last month, June 2015.

Ever since we announced to family and friends our intentions to build, and that we bought property, we've always had to answer the question, "So what's new with the house?" In the beginning we said we had to wait until the property's paid. Then it was we're waiting on so-and-so to do such-and-such so we can meet this-and-that requirement for the building department. Well when we finally received the building permit, we thought we were golden. Of course not though. Anyway, long story short, we finally got the holy grail building permit, we were approved for financing, and we "broke ground" in the sense that a construction driveway was put in. Now we're waiting for the excavator to dig our basement hole, whom he has to coordinate with the basement guy to pour the walls, and the rain we've been having every couple of days has been delaying anything from being done.

The point of this post is that through this entire process thus far, our friends and family keep asking us "so where are you at?", and every time I hear that question, it brings more stress onto this already stressful project.

Anyone else experience this? Advice? I literally want to start charging people for the answer. Help fund the house lol.
