dripp irrigation questions for Ken, Steve, and everyone else

I really try to get answers to my questions by searching previous topics on
this forum. But sometimes that just leads to more questions.

For instance, this comment made by butch_ragland
in response to a comment made by Ken in
his post on November 17, 2008 titled FIRST
Inventory in 3 Years:

<<<"also.. with drip
irrigation .... if one or two drippers plug near a single plant.. i will not
know it isnt getting water.. until the plant is in decline"
Ken

Have you tried "the solution"?>>>

Butch, what is the solution???

And more questions for a post by Steve on June 30 2012 titled Drip
Irrigation for Hosta Beds:

Steve, did you get a system set up and how is it working?

Ken, this is one of your comments in this post:

<<<i
would say.. that 80 % of my supply line.. is above ground ... only under.. in
the lawn ... and since i BLOW IT OUT in fall ... it really only need be a few
inches under the sod.. think straight shovel.. edging.. and stomping the grass
back down ...>>>

Ken, how do you BLOW IT OUT in the fall?
If the drip lines are above ground how do they fare in winter’s freezing
temps?

I have a $100 GC from Gardeners Supply so I am going to get their Snip N
Drip Watering System to set up in the new front bed. I have 6-8 hostas to plant there and they
will be competing with the arborvitae and birch for water so I need a system
that will evenly water the entire area. GS says I can cover the drip line with mulch but will have to remove it in fall and set it up again in spring.

I would love to hear any advice anyone can give me on this. Thanks!

Happy Fourth of July!
