Stuff, 15 items in 15 weeks in 2015
Comments (35)This will be easy for me now that two of three kids have moved out. I have been purging, decluttering, and organizing for about 13 months. Not non stop Or I'd actually be on top of the stuff already. I'm asking myself when I'm purging, Will I ever use this again? do I need more than one or two of this item? If I get rid of it will I have to get a replacement within 18 months? Where can I put it- that is as close as possible to the place it's to be used. And if I'm stumped and not sure whether to keep something emotional, I'll ask myself if my family would enjoy it once I pass away. If I think they wouldn't care eitherway, it goes, because I'm not taking anything with me. My biggest battle isn't letting go of stuff but what to do with the items. I live in the country, so no free on the curb drop off. I am on a few facebook "items for sale" sites, craigslist, Amazon and Ebay. That all takes time though, so things wait till I get to them. Most all the clothes go to a local charity but I just can't toss perfectly good items. Old, well used, dysfunctional item, yes those go into the trash but the ficus tree is still in the basement with hopes someone will love it again one day. Ok, that will be one of my 15 items out of the house this week. I'd like to do this with you too....See MoreWeek 4 - 15 in 15 in 15
Comments (12)This past week I got rid of more books, some baskets that I don't use, placemats and napkins that I don't use, and a bunch of softballs and baseballs (went to the "Free Stuff" table). 5 plastic bags full of dried out highlighters and pens (to the trash). 3 boxes of recycled junk mail and catalogs. Six more rolls of architectural prints and some cardboard boxes (those are now mulch in the garden - hopefully they will slow down the weeds). Hopefully this week my neighbor will be available to take a pickup load of no longer working electronics to the recycling center. Right now they are piled in the middle of the living room....See MoreWeek 7 - 15 in 15 in 15
Comments (5)Anyone need 3.5" disks? I unloaded a bunch of them from the shelf above my computer. I planned to review what was on the disks until I realized that none of my computers have 3.5" disk drives anymore! I guess I haven't missed what was on them, so they're gone. I also got rid of a bunch of unneeded papers. I found a birthday card my Mom sent me in 2004, with a check for $50 still in it, uncashed. She passed a few years ago, so I'll keep the card and check in my saved papers. I didn't get to the TV stand, so that will be a job for the future. Marcia...See MoreWeek 12 - 15 in 15 in 15
Comments (4)Week 12 done. I found things in my upstairs closets I don't even remember having. A picture, polyester tablecloth, a gifted sweatshirt with bird houses on it, I never wore it, and an assorted box of other things are ready for Goodwill. I am happy to see them go. Update: my husband and I just cleaned out our two freezers in the garage. I'm not going to tell you how old some of things in them were. I said WERE in them. I'm good for week 13, 14 and 15....See More- 11 years ago
