I need some motivation, too. I'm not sure what I'll work on this week. The trouble is that we may try to have a garage or estate sale, so I don't want to donate everything that needs to go. DH has cleared out part of the garage to store things until such time as said sale happens (or not), so I really don't have an excuse.

Maybe I'll continue working on my kitchen cabinets. Not much sentimental stuff in them, although there are a few things--like a wedding gift of a cruet set from one of my sisters given 44 years ago. Never used, but .... !

I took 2 huge boxes to the donation center this weekend! Woo hoo that sure was needed. I forced my husband to donate and throw out! He had a hard time with it.

I did pretty well last week (Week 5 - I never know whether to post on that one or this new one). Cleaned out the linen closet and took a huge box of towels and sheets to my vet's office Saturday. Plus a few self-warming cat/dog blankets. Those are great, as they reflect the animal's body heat - snuggly warm with no electricity required.

Took one pickup truck load of old electronics to recycling. Have another load ready to go - maybe later this week, I'll get a friend with a truck to help me load up and git it gone.

Decided the porch umbrella was waaaay past repair, so it's in the trash for pickup.

Sent my lawn tractor and Gator off to be serviced. Now that I have a temporarily empty spot in the shed for two weeks until the equipment comes back, I set up some tables on sawhorses, and started sorting DH's tools. A friend lost everything in a house fire the day after DH died (he, his wife, and two kids got out with their pajamas and literally nothing else - even their cars melted in the garage). He would love some of the extra tools and I'd like to be able to find the ones I have! Plus some other kitchen things for their new house when that is rebuilt. Won't be for a while, but that's OK, I'll box them up for him.

Still a long way to go, but a little bit every week helps a lot. It's not so overwhelming :-)

Week 6 done. My husband cleaned out some stuff in his office and I cleaned four drawers in the family room. Some things tossed and a bag and box in the car ready for Goodwill. I'm loving the clean look. Just added a box of ceramic plant pots to the Goodwill things.

Cleaned out the shed and brought back two large trash bags of plant pots and trays to Lowes for recycling. I can actually see the shed floor! I've tried reoffering my old working fat TVs on Freecycle, but I guess I'll have to get dorm help to bring them to my town's recycling center. I did get rid of some odds and ends of dishes and glassware on Freecycle

I am wondering as all of this cleaning/purging is going on if anyone is thinking about purchasing less in the future. I am going to try and give a little more thought into buying items, especially clothes and shoes. I have not ever gone totally overboard on those items but do have some things I have never worn or hardly ever worn.

Yes, I will think twice before buying more "stuff". We have lived in this house for 40 years last February and this is the first time I have done anything close to getting rid of so many things. We have 10 closets and a walk in pantry which means room for a lots of things. I will still have plenty left after the 15 weeks in over but less than I did before. I love the feeling of less clutter.

I cleaned out a few more shelves in kitchen cabinets this week and found a bag of parakeet and cockatiel accessories that will be donated or garage sold along with cages. I have one pet bird left--a parrot-- and the others have been gone for several years.

I wasn't as 'into' it this week. :( But every little bit helps!

Do you mind if I bump up Week 1, if I can find it and jump in to the project with you?

I am having a really hard time with 15 items per week. My house is small, and I purged as I unpacked when I moved in.

There is no storage to speak of, thus, not much to toss... and talk about closets, I have two. One in each bedroom. Small closets, like where built back when this house was built, 1927. Both closets are as wide as a regular size door. That's it.

Nothing extra any more really... but then I found a cupcake shape soap that was given to me, and I thought I would re gift.. it is now in the goodwill box. Unfortunately that is all this week. I will have to look harder next week I guess.

We had our garage sale this week and it was very successful. Sold a lot of items and many large items that had been taking up space. Also took two loads to Goodwill and some to the trash. Looking forward to the next weeks and trying to find more things to purge.
