I just took a car load of baby stuff to the resale shop. They gave me $40 for the large items. I have to go back tomorrow so they have time to go through the storage bins. Honestly, I feel like I gave the stuff to them considering what I paid for the items new. BUT.... My plan was to donate whatever they didn't buy, so $40 is better than nothing. I think my emotions are playing into it too, since all of my kids used the items. Bitter sweet.

We get pink bags in the mail and AMVETS comes to our house if we leave it by the curb. Next Monday is the pick-up date so I am going to get some stuff gathered for that. When I was cleaning out the garage last week I found a box that I thought was my husbands that was actually for the AMVETS.

My husband brought home about 20 empty boxes for me to fill (that's just to get started). I was looking at the calendar this morning wondering how far I will get by the first of August. I definitely need encouragement to see this thru so I hope a lot of you will still be posting as we get further along.

I am glad the rest of my house is descent - I don't know what I would do if every room was like my hobby room. Anyone ever watch "Hoarders"? It is sad and yet I can see how it happens if you are not careful. (Not the rotten food, etc., just the saving of stuff because you might need it at some point in your life).

The true test will be checking back a year later to see if we have fallen back into our "saving" mode and are right back where we were when we started. I never want to go thru this again.

I am a little bit of a hoarder but my husband is worse than me. We now have the closet empty of things and then realized it desperately needs painting. We had to go 25 miles each way to get paint. He is now painting and then the hard part, how much can I get him to part with. The story continues!

I have a round table in the living room that has 2 small drawers. They are crammed with bits and pieces, screws, loose tacks and all kinds of doodads. Every time I go to open the drawer because it is so crammed any paper items out the back. Except for some loose pictures I am not even going to look at what is in the drawers and just toss everything into the bin. Obviously I don't need it because I only open the drawers when I am looking for a safety pin or Christmas bulb hooks which never seem to be in there anyway haha I also have more of Loki's toys and rawhide to get rid of and maybe next week start on the bigger items

OK, I'm done for the week. Closet cleaned, painted and only the "valuable" things put back in. Box in car to drop off to Goodwill and a pile of older clothes thrown away. I hope it will stay that way!!

Wow great job jkayd! Thank you so much for starting this. I am slow going but like I said earlier every time I open a drawer or closet I am looking at them differently. I do have a box started for the Goodwill and have added to it but I pretty much always have one going that I add to. Also, piling up things for a garage sale and making a list of those that are too big and need to stay in place until the sale. I so enjoy reading everyone's progress. Thank you again.

jkayd, that's great. I'd completely forgotten I'd watched something on television years back that said a good way to declutter is to empty and paint inside a closet. With fresh paint, clean space, you are less likely to put back excess stuff. Sounds like you nailed it ;)

I have to admit I have not kept up. I will start again after my Grand-daughter is born. She will be a real good reason to have an orderly easy-to-clean house!

I have been cleaning out our garage and it is so dirty and dusty. I cleaned two shelves yesterday and I emptied, washed, reorganized. I had a bag that I kept for my husband to look at and he says it was some parts to his beer making days..I said I was going to throw it away, he said to keep it, I won. Little by little I have been tackling the garage and it is looking better and better.

I didn't get my 15 put in the box, before I left. Am at my daughters till Monday... and will make sure, I get 30 items.

For me this is hard, cause when I moved in to this house, I de-cluttered major big.

Now, I am letting things go, that I kept for the reason: Someday I might need this.

So, I have a baby swing (the outdoor kind) I bought when Allison was born, and I had a tree to hang it, when she visited, a bike rack/carrier that does not fit on my car, a pair of cycling shoes, a couple pairs of bike shorts, and 3 bike jerseys.

makes the total count of only 8. But, like I said, I will add to it and make it 30, when I get back.

We found out that our neighborhood garage sale is a go for the 2nd weekend in June. I hope to go through the whole house so we will see. I did get quite a bit of stuff marked today. Lots of work but stuff is going one way or another.

The neighbor is having a garage sale, so I put a box of stuff out to the street with a FREE sign on it. The box is almost empty. :)
