My DD went to Columbia University in NYC and the campus is compact enough that her dorm was only a few minutes from her class rooms. She was in the habit of only allowing 5 to 10 minutes of walking time to go back and forth. I can't tell you how many times she'd call from her cell phone complaining that another TV show or movie was shooting on campus or nearby and the streets were blocked off and that she was going to be late for class. Law and Order was a frequent sight on campus. My DH and I would be watching an episode and all of a sudden we'd realized what part of campus was on the screen. Julia Stiles was in one of her Literature classes and Uma Thurman's brother was in another. Their father is a professor of Buddhist studies there. Those are the ones I remember. They shot several scenes of SpiderMan and Ghostbusters on campus and something with the Olsen twins. I remember she called and said they were so tiny they resembled 6 year olds. The luncheonette (Tom's Restaurant) that the Seinfield characters ate at frequently was on campus - they didn't film there but shot the exterior scenes. She nearly knocked Dustin Hoffman over when she was a freshman. She was returning to her dorm room carrying her laundry basket when he came out of her room and they bumped into each other in the doorway. His daughter's room was 2 doors away and he had walked into DD's by mistake. She frequently saw famous people around town but that's normal in NY. When I visted her I saw Jimmy Fallon, David Letterman, Regis Philbin, Erica Slezak, Kelly Ripa and some other soap actors who I'd recognize from the show but didn't know their real names. I passed Hayley Miles on the sidewalk and and gushed like an idiot telling her how I loved her films when I was a kid - Pollyanna, Moon-spinners, Tiger Bay. I'm only 90 minutes away so I've been up to see The View several times, Regis and Kelly, Rachel Ray, Conan. It's a fun day trip. A commercial for Toro lawn mowers was shot at my neighbor's house years ago but no one has ever seen it.

I've posted that youtube on my Facebook wall a few months ago and love watching it. I laugh at the wonky wheels on some of the wagons and vehicles. There is also another youtube of that film that compares what SF looks like today as the film travels down the street. I love the looks on peoples faces when they turn and see the camera and the kid who plays "chicken" by running in front of the vehicle with the camera. Anne

That was a cool old video Alisande. But the crisis could have been averted for baby had mommy provided the milk nature gave her. Felt kind of bad for the babe at the end who had simply had a bottle shoved at her. No cuddling. Sigh. Actually dairy farming has not changed all that much. My friend lived on one 40 plus years back. I recently visited a cheese factory which had a piece on how the milk got to the factory. Not much different from the video the old days of my friends farm. Just more product control and testing.

So who chooses the "featured answer" in this forum? It doesnt seem to have anything to do with no. of likes.. Theres no rhyme or reason to it. If brick is to be painted then it needs to be a breathable stain or mineral paint which forms a chemical bond with the masonry, and not a latex plastic film that sits on top of the brick and traps moisture which then creates spalling and damage you may see as soon as 10 yrs from now. Romabio (mentioned above) is a mineral paint and is good for brick and masonry as was said. Also check out Limeworks.us or Beeck - they have great customer service and the price really is comparable to a better quality conventional paint. You may have to either diy or look for a painter who knows about this paint or is willing to expand their skill set. These products have been used in Europe for hundreds of years but for some reason not as much used in the US as they could or should be. They are catching on though. Less effort would be simply choosing another accent color besides white! Thats whats giving it that peach pie with ice cream look! A dark green-black would look appealing, providing a sharp contrast and making the walls read more as a nice warm more neutral tan. It really is a sweet house and will look great once you get all the colors working well together.
