Wow, no I wouldn’t have, unless he was sitting across from me for a bit! But how nice for your area!

Yeah, I think I might. He has always been a favorite. Or, more probably would have

said, "hey, that guy looks just like Richard Gere!" Hope you get to see some

of the "action". ;)

Probably not, I have a hard time recognizing people when they are not where I usually see them. When I was 16 yrs. old, I worked with my mailman and never saw them as the same person for long time.

jasdip, Canada offers significantly large cash incentives for film and video production, calculated as a percentage of money spent for labor. That's why many feature films and videos are filmed there. In addition, I think production costs can be lower too, when measured in US dollars.

It's an employment-creating program.

A number of jurisdictions in the US at the state and lower levels have similar business development programs for filming and other businesses for the same reason, as a location inducement to create employment.

No, and I have often walked by celebrities without recognizing them, but many of them I do. Usually someone has to identify them for me.

Don Johnson came to my office in 1989, and I did not recognize him until we were introduced. Three or four years later, Sharon Stone came to our showroom, and the receptionist did not recognize her, and she was not happy. I didn't see SS, but I don't think I would have recognized her either.

Woody Allen filmed part of a movie decades ago in my neighborhood in NJ. I walked down to gawk and stand behind the sawhorses, quietly. I would have recognized him. I wasn't picked for an extra that day but the woman standing next to me, with a baby in a stroller, was selected to walk down the street past the house. Mostly I saw people tromping in and out of the house and sometimes standing briefly to talk. Rather dull. I did not stay long.

Lol! Most celebrities are safe with me. I would never recognize them especially if they weren't dressed for the part.

My most recent 'celebrity' encounter was Ted Cruz. I saw him walk out of a men's bathroom. He looked familiar, but I didn't immediately recognize him. It took me a little while.

I saw Tom Cruise. Heavily surrounded by bodyguards.

I think that's where his insights and positions on various issues come from.

Edit to add: re Cruz

I was on a photo shoot with the model for Stetson once in NYC. He was NOT at all like pictured. I am not star-struck in any way. A glimpse now and then is entertaining. I also loathe celebrity endorsements for insurance, vegetable pills or political candidates. Really, they are not qualified to help me with my health care decisions, or anything else for that mater.

I probably would have thought Hmm, i know that guy from somewhere.

@Elizabeth, I couldn’t agree more regarding celebrity endorsements!

I’d probably recognize Richard Gere or think it was someone who looked like him. Celebrity sightings aren’t unusual here. Sometimes their appearance can be surprising. I still remember Paul Newman long ago when he was making a movie close to our house in Sierra Madre, CA. We’d go each day after school to watch them film. He was very nice and took the time to come over to say hello to all of us. I knew he was not a tall man but had no idea how small he really was. That memory comes to mind at the end of The Sting when Newman and Redford are walking down the alley side by side. They look to be very close in height making me think Redford is small, too. You only see them from the back, so I suppose they could’ve used standins of equal height.

One time Paige Davis from HGTV filmed an episode on my street. Thats the best Ive got,

I would recognize him in a heart beat! 💞

I have seen a fair amount of celebrities but who knows how many more I've seen and not known?!

Re Richard Gere, I might think he looked familiar, but I don't think I would have recognized him. He looks very good, but he has definitely aged some and I don't know that my mental image of him matches. reality if that makes much sense.

I can only recall a handful of celebrity sightings - Kelly Ripa in Philly waiting for a train to NYC, standing next to Jimmy Fallon carrying a guitar while crossing the street (DD had to tell me who he was), riding an elevator with Joan Rivers and her dog (she was telling one-liners), sitting at the table next to Andre Agassi in Toronto, meeting Roberto Clemente, Franco Harris. My favorite was the time I was lunching at an outdoor cafe when Hayley Mills walked past. For some reason our glances met and I mouthed 'thank you' and she smiled and nodded her head. As a kid I adored her in the Moon Spinners, Parent Trap, Pollyanna, etc.

i am with dedtired... i would have said "hmm looks familiar" but boy has he aged!! so used to seeing him in Pretty Woman re-runs, so my mind has him at that age, haha

we saw Reba McIntyre at a local hamburger shop, took us a few minutes but we figured it out... with a bunch of bodyguards. i guess she needed her fix of junk food :)

I think of Gere when I'm dusting the tops of door casings. (Remember "An Officer and a Gentleman"?)

Never! Gosh he looks old.

A million years ago, John Denver came into our Sears store to buy a TV. I worked @ Sears for 9 years putting myself through college without loan debt. The salesperson recognized him by the name on his charge card..... Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr.

Oh, I forgot that i ran intoHilary Clinton one time. It was strange. I was in NYC for a meeting of academic library fundraisers ( a small group!) and we met at the Harvard club. We had a smaller meeting room and someone kept knocking on the door. We were told not to leave the room. The door was left open and I glanced up to see Hilary getting off the elevator. She was giving a speech there. I remember she was short with very blue eyes.

It was the secret service knocking at the door. My boss had answered it and later said he wondered why there was a dog there.

Same thought here. All wrinkled up and shriveled like a dry prune! Not everyone ages the same.

So many shows being filmed in Canada now. Fargo is back in Calgary right now. The Last of Us finally finished filming. One of the filming locations was on an intersection I have to drive through to get to work. My sister is currently working on a show with Hilary Swank in Vancouver.

Julia Roberts was in our city filming a movie a couple of years ago, and went into a local restaurant for lunch. It was a very busy location and restaurant staff said she would have to wait for a table. They didn't realize who she was, and she didn't identify herself but left and returned at the time given to her by the restaurant.

Gere is 73 and I think that’s what he looks like. It’s refreshing to see a ’celebrity’ aging naturally and with acceptance. Good for him.
