Taken last week before all the peonies dropped their blooms. I think I'm one of the very few people on the planet that cannot stand messy, short-lived, ant infested peonies. What I love about this pic is the cloud formation. It almost looks like someone hand painted that sky.

I have about 15 peonies in my back yard. Ants are not an issue (in my kitchen they are an issue). I remove the blooms just before they fall apart. I don't really mind that they fall, they will help the soil as they go bye-bye! I also toss those spent blossoms into my compost bin.

Night Before Christmas hosta and his bunny friend. I picked this particular hosta because I had gotten a gift certificate for Christmas for my favorite nursery and this would always remind me of the person who gave it to me and the occasion!!

Here is a favorite perennial of mine. These 'cherries' are well behaved. Heuchera 'Cherries Jubilee'

Here's the chrysalis properly oriented. It's a lovely green. I suppose it's protective coloration.

Socks, we did some releases when the kids were small. I remember the chrysalis looking like someone had put gold on it. It was so exciting as time went on when you could see right through and see the beautiful monarch colours.

Last night I was in town late as a massive storm rolled through, when I finally started towards home the storm had cleared over the town, but still could be seen in the distance putting on an impressive display of nearly constant lightning. I drove home 10 miles further away from the storm and it was still clearly visible in the distance. I tried taking many pictures using various settings but didn't have much success.

Little, my grandkids are coming tomorrow, and I look forward to showing them. (Who knows, they might not be impressed at all, but I hope so!)

I love peonies, I would gladly take yours littlemonkey! I had to leave mine behind at my Oklahoma house. I would love a yard full.

Bob....to photograph lightning strikes, set your camera on a tripod or solid surface....ie: hood of your car or top of a trash can....then set it for a 30 second exposure pointed in the direction of the storm.....you should catch something, it might even look like multiple strikes. :0)

Great shot Nicole, but my super duper cheapy Fuji could never take a pic like that even on a tripod. LOL

lm3....I still take pics with my "free" point and shoot cheapie camera. :0) My iris pics today were taken with my cheapie.....you just have to know what, when, how to do it.

I'm in no way dissing my camera. I think we got it for about $150 on sale. It takes some great shots for sure, but it cannot handle night shots at all.
