Hot Tub Decision - Final 3 -- advice please

After 2 months of research and testing, I've narrowed down to 3 (maybe 4) hot tubs and am having a really difficult time reaching the final decision. The primary purpose of the hot tub is relaxation and family time -- we have two kids (ages 15, 7). At the top of my criteria list is quality/reliability, comfort, and dealer. All of the choices are very comparable. Similarly, the price points are close w/Hot Springs & Sundance. The R7 is about $800 less expensive.

what's your opinion and/or experience with the below hot tubs? is there one which is leaps above the other?

Hot Springs Pulse

Sundance Chelsee

Bullfrog R7

Maybe the Jacuzzi J-365

Hi sjones145, we bought a Sundance Chelsee a year ago and absolutely love it. It fits 2 big adults with tons of room to sprawl, lots of seating options and heights (if you're cold you can sit deep all the way on the floor, if hot you can sit up high), and plenty of space when guests come. The San Diego dealer is wonderful. We got a custom color cover for just a little bit more. I'm not familiar with the other models. Hope this helps :)

Well to start you are looking at some of the top manufacturers in the industry, so as long as you are comfortable and confident with the dealer you should be good wit any choice.

Those are all mid level lines so you are getting great value.

I will say as a former Bullfrog dealer, if you buy a bullfrog buy it because you like the layout and the features, don't buy it because of the jetpacks. Being able to move them around from seat to seat is cool, but hardly anyone ever does it. So just look at it as any other spa out there.

What it basically comes down to is which spa has the seating that fits you and your family and what dealer you feel most confident in. You are going to have this spa for a LONG time, make sure you can have a good relationship with the local shop you are buying it from.

The last time I took a bath, I think I filled the tub with about 6 inches of water. BIG mistake! When this whale-size fanny sat down, it caused a tidal wave of the Perfect Storm proportions! Our fiberglass tub was so uncomfortable, I think I got more kinks in my neck from the bath. When it was time to get out, I had the presence of mind to let out the water ... what little water was left in the tub! I don't remember how I got out. I tend to block out traumatic experiences. I don't think I could even get into a claw foot tub now! I have trouble lifting my Bozo The Clown-size feet into a small tub. My favorite thing is to sit on my shower bench, put my shower head with the long hose on fire hose setting and just massage my shoulders, arms, legs and feet with it. I have been known to fall asleep in the shower as a result of it. But then ... I fall asleep at my computer at work so that doesn't mean much! Thanks for the hilarious story, toomuch. Luckily Bob is asleep and not giving me strange looks for laughing out loud.

Hello I'm new to the site. I have been given a hot tub and i am trying to figure out how to turn it into a fish pond It cracked over winter so I'm just going to seal it.. It works ... So can I use the jets and it has a little built in waterfall ???I know the jets are powerful so I would have to find a way to weaken them.... Any ideas.... I would like to use as much as the original hot tub as possible .

It is a big space so size isn't a problem. A 60" long tub fits me since I'm only 5'3" and have lots of width.

Hi Kate, I don't want to come across as the Stone Police, but have you thought about using Porcelain look alikes instead of real limestone? There are a few threads about using limestone vs porcelain in a BR. Again, I love the look of limestone, as I state in the linked thread, I DID have real limestone shelves in my previous BR, but I wouldn't and didn't put them on the floor in my new reno. I used a porcelain tile which I honestly think looks pretty real and is totally bullet-proof. You may want to look at the Supergres Everstone collection from Italy. Going from your choices above, you might like the Ever-Claire collection.
