Has anyone heard of J.C.'s Rose?
Comments (16)DustyRose, after posting I remembered seeing a couple with a first name instead of initials. J.C.'s rose was the only one with initials and I saw it in bloom (a beautiful magenta color). Coiner is notorious for these labels--I've seen them marked just "red rose", "yellow rose" and so far I've seen only Coiner roses at HD unlike Lowe's which has roses from V&P Nurseries (Gilbert, AZ), Nakase (Laveen, AZ), Altman's from CA. In fact the major nurseries in Phoenix (Berridge and Baker) didn't carry any J&P roses this year. I was disappointed as I wanted OLOG, Ingrid Bergman, and Veteran's Honor. Lowe's had all three. Anyway, let me know about J.C.'s (how it stands up to heat, does it shatter quickly, etc.) Karen...See MoreMy Seed Pods...
Comments (28)I must say that even though I am very lazy following my pollinations, I always like when I see your experiments strengthened by pictures here with the parent flowers', then the seedlings' pictures. I wish I were a little more disciplined to do so. But I am lazy even sticking the papers next to the seed pods anymore. There are so many pods developing and a lot of them aborting. I just lose track and lose interest in keeping track of these mixes. If I were sending these bulbs out to you for instance, I'd make notes and make sure that you know the parentage, but the same seeds would go into my big mix when it comes to personal seed collection......See MoreOT: overdue :'}
Comments (54)Medo, I saw them on the end rack at Wal*Mart yesterday, I think under $30. I was tempted, but the old Ranger is pretty well loaded and ready to head south now, so I don't dare add more. I used to have one, but gave it to a daughter, now I wish I had it back. They are very safe to use, not like in the past when they used to blow up. And pot roast is awesome in them! As is Swiss steak. Annie looked like a little overstuffed sausage in her new sweater. She's only 9-months old, but very overweight and having some joint problems in a front leg....when she first gets up (anytime she has been laying down, not just mornings) she limps until her leg loosens up, sometimes her right leg just collapses under her and she falls on her face (which breaks Granny's heart). She doesn't each much at all, and the vet has said to cut even that in half for 3 months, after which he'll check her thyroid if she isn't losing. She's also been put on a joint med. Wow...that trip to the vet was mucho $$$, and he didn't do a darned thing! I looked up the medication and it was only $25 on line. Shipping would have brought it to $30. He charged $93 for the visit and the meds! Pretty good pay for a five minute consultation, I'd say. I've used this vet for all the pups shots and neutering, but I think I'm finding a new one in the future. I'd hate to think what it would have cost if he'd done xrays! Comments (13)Ellendi- Yes, everyone is worth saving. Unfortunatley, there are so many kids who need help. Not all want it or have family support. Not everyone has the time or energy and it can be very disheartening to try, only to have it go in one ear and out the other. Admin and teachers get overwhelmed. For us, we had a middle school admin that was horrible. They make struggling kids feel like crap. Even when she asked for help they didn't have time, or just saw her as a problem not worth their time. We couldn't wait for her to get out of there. The high school admin is so different. They see every kid is worth at least a try if they want help. In our case, they saw a kid wanting help and parents who wanted to work with them. She was not crap, she was a smart girl who just needed a safe envirnonment to start making her own choices rather than the negative peer influences making them for her. Admin walking the halls, watching out for the underdogs, calling out the bullys. Not allowing trouble a place to thrive. It not only gave dd a safe place to thrive, it helped the negative influences because they didn't have her to approach. They would move on and in some cases mature and stop alltogether as they saw from admin that they didn't have to behave badly, they too could choose to thrive. Our HS is a great place with great admin. Golddust, you are just up the road from us:) I wondered if you would comment....If you listen, you just might hear her music resonating in the hills. It amazes me how dismal her world was, but her music has carried her through her struggles and now she plays the flute, piccolo, oboe and piano (wants to learn every instrument). She plans to pursue music education and either teach or instruct in some manner. We have always told her to pursue what she loves, she is talented and has the ability to touch others with her playing. She says she wishes everyone would feel the music in their hearts the way she does, to feel it heal the heart like it has done to hers. Besides school music she takes private lessons and is now actually giving lessons herself and has become a role model for incoming students. New kids only know the musician, the free spirit that makes her who she is. Her past problems are becoming more and more distant. She is in a music leadership position and has even been asked to mentor at a youth orchestra music camp. Hard to belive she has low self esteem.... but at least she is finally realizing that no one can hurt her anymore if she doesn't allow them to. She is now more of a normal teen with normal teen issues. But at leaset all of the hurt is gone and it is the music that remains:)...See More- 8 years ago
