Love the purples, actually would be hard to pick a favorite from these. Jeanne Deaver's Dream might have to be my favorite, I really like that color. Of course that is not counting Columbus, my absolute favorite!

My Texas Blue Eyes only had a few flowers this year. I think it's odd but Carpenters don't really seem to do well for me.

Ruth - My Texas Blue Eyes seems to have been set back quite a bit by our harsh winter. Scapes are short and there aren't many buds. The the flowers are still beautiful. I would think the Carpenters would do well for you since they were hybridized in Texas. Texas Blue Eyes performs very well here in years where we've had mild winters.

Nice selection Debra. Seems like your over your thrips issue as all the blooms look perfect. Insider Trader is one I should have gotten. How does it perform for you? Edit: And Columbus is adorable.

Julia - Yes, the first round of thrips was eradicated, but new one are out there. If I can stand the heat, I need to spray tonight. I lost Insider Trading in a pot, and this is a replacement plant. I haven't had it in the ground long enough to report on performance.

These are beautiful, Debra. Hard to choose a favorite between Jeanne Deaver's dream and Red Edition and Spacecoast Francis Busby....but Sweet Prairie Wind is a beauty and that clump of Hold Your Horses is beautiful. Best I can do.

Love the clump shot of Hold Your Horses and in your picture at least, the pristine white and purple combination of Navaho Talisman. SC Frances Busby has already been added onto my list because of you, and I am also drawn to the bright red color of All American Chief. Is it that vibrant in person?.......Columbus didn't discover America taking a nap in Pine straw. Good thing he wasn't really a cat-lol.....Maryl

Maryl - All American Chief is a vibrant red, but the flower is made more vibrant in the photo because the middle flower is reflecting the sunlight. A lot of people love All American Chief because of its vibrant red. It used to always be in the Top 10 of the AHS popularity poll. Even people who didn't care for UFs loved that one. By the way, about Columbus. My husband says I have to buy more pine straw and leave "Coco" Columbus' alone. "That's the only place she seems truly relaxed and at peace," he said.

Sweet Prairie Wind caught my eye. Do you have others of this hybridizer?

So Coco Columbus is a nervous Nellie? I've got one of those type babies. After 11 years of tender loving care she is still the first under the bed if anything out of the norm happens. When we take her to the vets for her annual, she always hides her face in the crook of my arm as if to say If I can't see them, they can't see me. God bless their little hearts every one of them.......You are wearing me down with your UF propaganda-lol. Trouble is the two I have both have the same problem - skinny scapes. They are new and newish so I will give them time to mature, but I was told it can be a problem with many UFs...........Maryl

Mantis - I originally got three daylilies from hybridizer Mix before his death. I bought Glitter Gal, a late that died in a pot two winters ago, and Kisses from Heaven, an edge no eye cultivar that survives in a pot. Sweet Prairie Wind was the bonus. I just got it in the ground after three years in a pot. It was not happy in the pot and would not multiply there. I'm hoping it will take off now that it's in a place with good soil and plenty of sunshine. I tried to replace Glitter Gal this spring, but the two sources I knew of didn't have it for sale at this time.

Maryl - Two of my gypsy cats, Coco and Sammie, are scaredy cats. On some days, they still seem afraid of me. Do the skinny scapes not hold your UF s upright? Most of my UFs do not have skinny scapes. Those by Wilkerson, Davisson and Hanson, Hansen, and George have very sturdy medium-sized scapes.
