For me, no way. I'm not large boobed though, but still I hate them. I live in tanks with shelf bras when I'm at home and just wear them out. I'm not large though around a 32 D. I also can't find bras in department stores that fit me band wise. It's annoying. So us smaller girls don't have a lot of luck either. The best advice I would give you is to make sure your band and cupsize is accurate. I was always thinking I was a 34 b and when I found one in my real size it was soooo much better. The band didn't ride up and my boobs actually weren't squished in the underwire. I still hate them though, just does not feel natural.

Of course what works for me may not be comfortable for you but I've been wearing Glamorize Magic Lift bras for years. I usually buy them online from Just My Size.

I have to order them online at Just My Size because they don't carry my size (DDD) in stores. I like the front closure Playtex Wirefree 18 Hour and have been wearing them for years. As previously noted, I am a large size and they give me all the support I need.

Sorry, but if you are full figured, you need underwire! I am large for my frame and avoided underwire for years. I started to really see myself in photos. Gasp, so sloppy!

You need to really take your time as we said in the previous thread. I wear the Wacoal 85567. I can wear it all day, I do do admit to taking it off at home and putting on an old Wacoal without underwire.

I was fitted in Bloomingdales, but I found an old fashioned lingerie shop and go there for my bras. They have also fired me for a sports bra, a strapless and a halter style. All are comfortable.

You need to take your time. It's easy if the bra is too tight or hurts, but not as easy to find one that will go the distance. You need to stay in it for a while.

I was trying on a sports bra and it seemed okay. But, I got into a conversation with the sale associate and I was glad I did. Within a few minutes I realized that bra would have been a mistake,

Check out the Glamorise full figure bras. Nice elastic side panels and wide padded straps. Have the extra piece inside cup for good support. Find them on EBay for about $25 . I am very picky about bra comfort and support.

I don't think there is such a thing as a comfortable bra for as you say, "us larger sized women". At least not one that also gives decent support. I have been hunting for years and even worked as a bra fitter in a shop that catered to the DD's and up. I retired some 17 years ago, but keep on looking. And prices are outrageous! $70+ is more than I want to pay for something that I can't wait to pull off at the end of the day!

I have conceded that if I want to look less dowdy an underwire is the only bra that will do it. I admit, that I am pleased with how perky and more 'youthful' it makes me look...and feel, but off it comes leaving me practically bouncing off my knees as soon as I am home in the evening. I have been known to dash off to the bedroom to redress at the sound of the doorbell

I'm 68 and find the Milana bra with lace, like on TV some time ago, feels good. I guess it's more of a sports bra but I'm not very big so it's comfortable to me.

I've been wearing Sears Timeless Comfort bras for about 40 years. They do NOT have underwire (which I cannot tolerate). Mine looks very much like the Playtex 18 Hour Lace Wirefree Bra in mdln's post. Mine are comfortable and provide very good support--and I am a DD cup.

I'm a Soma girl nowadays (DDD). After many years of trying so many different styles with or without underwires. I need the underwires and the Soma are the only ones that are comfy for me. Expensive :( I buy on the internet.

Hate hate hate, it's a true hate relationship. I don't like to use that word but it's so true. Torture device is true. Comfortable no way, less miserable than another yes maybe. I just can't do wires. And now must have front closures. It is what it is.

I bit the bullet and bought Chantelle underwire from Nordstroms. They have quite a different way of measuring. Had to go back and get a larger band size. Terribly expensive, but so are the ones sitting in my drawer that I can't wear. I find Lilyette to be pretty good. Yes, I wear a large size. I used to wear that Playtex model and liked it but lately can't seem to find an appropriate size. Bras are a real headache and each place has a different way of measuring- I measure all the way from a 40B to a 38 G. Why can't they be standardized?????

I seem to have a reaction to the elastic in bras, so no size is comfy, at least not when you are itching!!! Even tried wearing them inside out.

try Wacoal. I cannot do underwires and found their wire-free bras comfortable enough that I could wear it all day.

On the other hand, I recently discovered JustMySize Pure Comfort Bra and am thrilled. For me, it is so comfortable for every-day wear that I forget I have it on! Unheard of, after more than 55 years of buying bras... =)

I want a minimizer at 40DD. Any ideas?

After years of torturing myself and thinking I was 42DD I spent some time at www.herroom.com website, measured myself a couple of times and settled on a 46C. I purchased a bra for about $100 and it has lasted about 2 years. It's at the end of it's life span so now I wear it outside working etc. Look at the bra's on their website and give them a try. I cannot go into a store and simply pick what they have. They don't last for me and I find they only offer me short term comfort until they start to stretch out and the materials start to break down.

I just thought of something that I do. I use baby powder! It makes the underwire more comfortable for the duration.

Playtex makes a mostly-cotton bra for bigger ladies that has an underwire--it's pretty comfortable. I get itchy where the wire is too, but it's because of the sweat. Dry the area really well before dressing.

I like to use Desenex medicated powder(anti fungal), after showering and drying very dry, under the breasts and between the breasts. It helps prevent itching and chafing plus yeast growth on the skin also.

Yes, drying the area does help, and a little dusting of powder under the bust after drying helps too. Gold Bond Body Powder works.

One of my problems is I need a bra that will slip over my head. I can't reach in he the back anymore and I am not going to do one of those turning it all around moves, nor can I attach the front closures. I've been wearing the JCPenny Underscore and the will slip over my head and stretch enough to work but they have those side bones which I have cut out and they are still uncomfortable.

I tried the Curvation several months ago and they have been the best fitting and most comfortable for me. They actually FIT, don't ride up and are comfortable. They do sell them at Wal-Mart and K-Mart but the selection has gotten a lot smaller lately
