does anybody know anything about black cherry ice cream

I was looking up another rose on helpmefind when I saw this rose, but when I tried to find who might carry it by using google I didn't see anything.....

I think this is a very beautiful rose and would like to find out more about it... Does it have any disease problems? Would it grow in South Florida, Zone 10.... and if so where could I purchase one.

Sorry, it doesn't appear to be in commerce at all. The only garden listed on HMF is the breeders, Dave Bang. In looking at the list of roses he's bred it doesn't look like any of his roses are in commerce. A shame because they're lovely! Maybe you could contact him to see if he could send you cuttings.

Wow, it looks like a beautiful climber. Back in 2013, someone on HMF asked David Bang if his roses would ever be available to the home gardener. He replied that he hoped so and that he was testing a number of his roses with Star Roses and other companies from other countries and that it would be many years before they complete their testing. To the person who posted the question, he went on to say that if there was a particular rose he liked that was rejected for testing, he could produce it and sell it to them. It's been awhile since that post. I wonder how the testing is going. Here is a link to his page on HMF: David Bang

I haven't seen a Good Humor truck in ages. I'd guess there are several reasons. One being that we now live in the era of "Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid" that keeps kids indoors lest the boogie man get 'em. (There are no more pedophiles now than ever, IMO.) Gas prices are probably another reason. And...all the mothers are at work during daylight hours when the truck would circulate through a neighborhood. The last Good Humor truck I recall seeing regularly was parked at an intersection between two forest preserves west of Winnetka (Illinois). HIkers and bikers would stop for an ice cream. marita -- Oh, ick, the wooden paddle! Kids who brought their lunches could buy a carton of milk and one of those cups at my grammar school. (Back when mothers were home all day, and most kids went home for lunch.)

The very best peach ice-cream I've ever had in my life was when I was about 6-7. My oldest childhood friend invited me to go with her to her grandparent's lot they owned on Lake Lotawana outside Kansas City. They hoped to build a cabin on it one day - don't think they ever did. They had a concrete platform with a big picnic table. Her grandmother brought fresh peaches, juicy and ripe, and an ice cream maker from home. The men took turns turning the handle - no electricity out there and I don't know if there even were electric ice cream makers at that time (this would have been in the late 1940's). Oh my! It was so cold and creamy and rich and delicious! I've never had peach ice cream since that tasted as good.

Amylou, I do hope you'll try "pink chocolate" for yourself. I had some "Ruby" brand bars last spring and they were delicious. Slightly fruity but definitely chocolate, is how the taste struck me. Perennialfan, I had rolled ice cream once at a local shop. It was fun watching it be made but for me it's a novelty thing, not worth going out of my way for. For your other question, ice cream bars are good for convenience, either portable or portion-control -- but given a choice I'd take ice cream in a bowl.

I think most posts were from folks saying they either liked it or they didn’t, not that it was an unusual choice or that they had never heard of it. My take away from this thread is that rum and raisin ice cream has been around for years but it is not a favourite of many. Our ice cream place is now featuring haskap berry and keso/queso. eta not combined, but I suppose one could have a scoop of each 🍨

ok- I followed the link and looked at his other roses. They are equally beautiful. I did not know how to bring up a particular grower before.... just knew how to search for a particular rose.

Now for an even sillier question.... how do I contact him? Do you have to be a member? I couldn't figure out how to contact him. I even went to his blog and saw no phone number or mailing address. If anybody has a number or an email address I would like to find out how to get his rose.

Yeah, just contact him thru HMF. I have his email address, but don't want to give it out without his permission. A few yrs ago, I encouraged him to get his roses out there. He sold me a few of his early crosses to "test" for him, but I just haven't had a lot of time to really evaluate them. And as he says, it takes yrs to test roses before they can be marketed. I imagine he'd be willing to send you some of the ones he's not having tested by commercial suppliers.

Yes, I think you have to be a member on HMF to us the private messaging. I would encourage you to join because it's well worth it.

Dave really needs to get his roses out there. I looked at all his plants listed at HMF and they were all beautiful! Lots of them are stripes and have great form!

Oh my goodness!!! How can that rose NOT be out in commerce!!! It's exquisite!!!

I also decided (just now) to go look at his other roses (never thought about it until I read above). They're GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I can't believe he's not selling his roses. If those roses can't get into commerce, then nothing can.
