Red Ring Milkweed Seed Pod beginning!!!

I am so excited as this is the first time my wild Red Ring Milkweed has ever begun a seed pod naturally. Something has already bitten into it from below so I doubt it will survive but still, such a happy occurrence for me. I think I transplanted this plant in 2009 so it's taken this long to see a naturally occurring seed pod begin to form.


Below you can see the underneath and the damage that's already been done to it. In fact, I couldn't even see those aphids on the tip until I uploaded the photo! Need to go back out there and see if I can get them off. Trouble is, I'm getting so un-coordinated I'll probably knock the llttle growth off the plant if I try goofing around with it. Darn bugs! ... ~Mary
