What would you do, sub floor or direct on slab?

We are building 2000 sq ft above grade on slab in Zone 7. The drawings show vapor barrier and 2" of rigid foam under the slab(code). Our plan is for engineered floors throughout except tile in the bathrooms.

If flooring is installed directly on the slab our concern is cold floors, feel (hardness), and sound.

We are installing a heat pump for HVAC so in slab heat would be overkill. We are considering the addition of 2" of rigid foam under the slab. Are our concerns founded? What was your experience with installing directly on slab? Should we consider a sub floor?

What would you recommend?
