Vickie- You would get lots of help at the Rose Furum. It was my number one forum before I got into daylilies, now I just hang out here and visit there occasionally. But while I cut my roses back heavily about twice a year (early spring and after the big June flush) I never cut them in the fall. It makes them start growing again and that is not what you want this time of year. Leave it. Then trim everything back drastictly (you can not cut too much, they will just grow like crazy) in the spring. Do it right after the rose leaves start to come out but before they are fully leafed out. You can also cut back anytime in the late spring or summer months after you see them bloom.

Check out the Benjamin Moore website for photos, in the color section and in the new on-line design magazine they have called "Nuance". Benjamin Moore's Historical color palette, including Shaker Beige, is excellent for choosing exterior colors. These colors, including shades of gold and tan, look natural and fit in any neighborhood, historical or new construction.

Another vote for modern fan. I have the cirrus fans through out the house. They move an incredible amount of air and are very quiet. I sleep with a fan all year long. I am a fan of AC but I like air movement. As part of a pending remodel, I am planning to get rid of central air and use a mini split system throughout the house. The house is one story and a mid century modern. I like the idea of zoning that mini splits provide. Some family members are always hot and turn the AC down to frosty. This would localize that behavior to one room at a time. I have spent considerable time doing research on these units and I am leaning towards the Fujitsu. They are very flexible units so you can start with one room at a time. I also have one Matthews fan, it is a wall mount fan for the dining room, Michele Parede. It is well made but not installed yet. Best of luck!
