Hardware question - what to use on trash pull out - knob or pull?
Comments (7)I used a pull.... and I borrowed another GW-er's idea to use a larger size than on my other drawers. It's 7 or 8" long, so I hang by dish towel on it (right across from the sink). That way dirty/wet hands grab the towel and don't get the pull and cabinet dirty :) It works reeeeaaaaallly well, though I did have to find a knob/pull line that had lots of different sizes. I used Restoration Hardware. FWIW I have knobs on my cabinet doors, and pulls on my drawers. Since the trash is like a big drawer, this made sense to me. And- looks great!...See MoreTrash pull out cabinet or stand alone trash??
Comments (7)Gizmonike, Are those electrical outlets above the garbage pullout? How did you modify the upper drawer so that it would accommodate the outlets and so that the drawer front would slide back and then over the outlets like that? Fantastic idea. I also had the idea of putting a shredder on the garbage container in the back of the pullout cabinet so that I could use it for paper to be recycled, which would necessitate an outlet inside the trash cabinet as well. Is there room inside the cabinet to accommodate that?...See MoreKitchen trash bins pull out opinion
Comments (14)I'm in design phase too and pondering the pull out trash/sink issue. My designer has a 12" wide cabinet for a small (very small) prep sink and next to it is another separate 12" space for a pull out. (27 qt) I suppose my question is, why can't i just have a large 24-25" space so I can have a bigger sink with the trash pull out below? I see Carrie B has done that above. It seems like pipes are always the concern. I'm almost at the point of considering 1 big 24-25" cabinet, with a little bigger prep sink and buying a garbage pull out later. I would hate to settle for a 10" prep sink. I currently have 20". That's a big adjustment. I think I will repost this question in a new thread. :-)...See MoreHelp me choose pull size for pull out trash cabinet, 5 or 7"?
Comments (5)@HU-187528210 I am using the 5" on all my uppers and lower cabinet doors, plus I am using the 5" on three other drawers. I am using 9" on the other stack of drawers. I haven't decided on the drawers in the bar area, either using 7" or 9" there for 24" drawers I just thought maybe the 7" would be easier to grab for the trash pull out and would match the 7" handle for the 24" microwave drawer in the island So hard to decide....See More12crumbles
