Comments (2)I attached another picture to show the roof. WE have a living room- large , dining room , kitchen and sunroom. # bedrooms up and one bath up, 1/2 bath on the main floor. There is a fireplace and built in china hutch, fairly large crown molding downstairs...and curved doorways....See MoreWhat style is my home?
Comments (0)We just bought our home a few months ago and the longer we live here the more curious what “style” my home is. I adore the big moldings in my house but they don’t seem to always go with previous decor. I’d love some direction as we refinish our bathroom and kitchen back splash and a few other projects, so they end more fitting with our home. We have molding throughout the master bedroom, and kitchen/eat in kitchen. The living room is vaulted ceilings with moldings around a ledge....See MoreHelp! What style is my home?
Comments (13)I wouldn't worry about what to call it. If you like a more modern type of farmhouse look, this exterior is probably one of the easiest to make it look like one. Check out these pics and follow what they've done. Since you're getting new windows, look at doing the darker exterior color like black or a dark bronze, bring in some wood accents, and if you need a new roof at some point, look at metal. your little overhang porch could easily be done like this. as for the interior, love JudyG's design w/the wood entry. removing that wall and opening up the staircase w/that stair style would be perfect for the look you want. taking down that wall would look something like this: but you could choose the style of staircase you like...See MoreWhat Style is My House?
Comments (10)Forget the house for a moment. What do you like? Are there certain styles of furniture you are drawn to? Certain interiors of movies that you like? Particular stores you gravitate towards? Any words come to mind that describe your aesthetic? I don't think you should feel bound to the exterior of the house as a point of departure. Lots of people do great jobs of contrasting interior and exterior and making it work. (The previous owners certainly didn't match the interior and exterior.) If you want to not have to think about it too hard, you could purchase most items from the same store and they will match well together. Some in store designers are very good and will give you floor plans and layouts. Room and Boardcomes to mind as a place you could shop. Their furniture is modern but uses a lot of natural materials so it still has a warmth to it, which is how I would describe your exterior: warm, natural, modern. I have used their consultants. They don't charge and the one I got was really good....See MoreButternut
