I'm getting 'Sophie's Perpetual' (have had my eye on that one for ages), 'Anna Jung' (I've forgotten who posted those gorgeous, and -er- enabling photos here, but thanks!), 'General Schabilkine' and I'm waiting until Monday to find out if they have a 'Princesse de Nassau' in stock (it's not a sale rose, but it is one I really want).

I've officially blown my rose budget for the rest of the year...

If I was not so busy spending money on moms house right now, a couple of them would be tempting.

But, I love my Anna Jung! She is growing like made and it is hard to get her to stop blooming.

Kippy, you get even more enabling points! I did think it might have been you with the gorgeous 'Anna Jung' photos, but was too lazy to open a second window to look.

I sent an email last night and heard back from Pat this morning that she has these roses reserved for me:

Sophie's Perpetual is no longer available :(

I will call tomorrow morning to give them my credit card info.

I'm getting Guy Savoy, Devoniensis CL, Purple Splash, All American American Magic, and Margo Koster. They were out of two others that I wanted. I'll pick them up Thursday.

countrygirl, I had to look up 'Guy Savoy'... I think you must share my fondness for striped roses... I'd love to go pick up mine, but I think it would be 5-6 hours round-trip from Charleston. One of these days...

Virginia, thanks, I hope so. She looks lovely and since I have had cousins living and going to school in Natchitoches I thought I should put her in my garden! I've been reading on this forum for a couple of years and have found lists from Jean in Nashville and Ronda in Carolina of roses that do well in their no-spray gardens. I've been very pleased with how my choices have done in Augusta.

Aha- Augusta... I was thinking East GA would be the coast, and was wondering why your zone was lower than mine in Charleston...

"NN" seems to be one of those roses that peform well under a variety of conditions, so I was very glad to get it. I was told that it is one of the best roses in a local public park in terms of staying in bloom and staying healthy.

It turns out that 'Anna Jung' and 'Princesse de Nassau' were not available from RU, so I'm getting 'Pink Gruss an Aachen' and 'Belle Vichyssoise' instead. And 'Sophie's Perpetual' and 'General S'. It's all good...

Yes, Virginia. You are correct. I do love striped roses. You can guess since three of the five are striped. I had also tried to get Honorine de Brabant, but they were out of it. LOL

Virginia--you are warmer and 'lower' than me. 8a comes after 7b and then moves south to 8b which is you.

Yes, you are right that I'm lower geographically, junco... I was thinking numerically, but didn't make that clear.

I'm also trying to grow roses in a no-spray garden, so will be interested to hear which roses are doing well for you so far. My roses are all pretty young, so it's a bit soon to say how they'll do as they mature.

countrygirl, the only striped rose I have so far is 'Rainbow' and I just got her last month as a small plant from Long Ago Roses in NC. I'm looking forward to hearing which ones do well for you; 'Honorine' is a lovely rose, so I hope we each get one in the not-too-distant future!

I have Henri Matisse that I got at RU last year and Candy Cane now. Also have two that are supposed to be Festival Fanfare, but they have only bloomed once in the six years that I have had them and I don't think they are the right color. I used to have Honorine, George Burns, Lemons & Oranges, 4th of July, Bright Ideas, Sheer Stripes, Cannoodling, Berries N Cream, Pink French Lace, Rockin' Robin, Ink Spots, and Scentimental - maybe more. most were lost through no fault of their own.

Of the ones you no longer have, are there any you really want to replace? I'm especially wondering how 'Honorine', 'Sheer Stripes', 'Rockin' Robin' and 'Scentimental' were for you...

I hadn't heard of 'Festival Fanfare' before... I like the HMF photos, but wonder what's up with your plants... even if they're the wrong variety, they still ought to be blooming more?

I loved Honorine and didn't have her long enough to really tell. I had Sheer Stirpes a few years and loved it. Rockin' Robin didn't really do anything for me, blooms were small. Scentimental was okay but it just wasn't hardy in my yard. I am in a microenvironlment where my weather is more like Hendersonville, NC, than Greenville, SC. I lost some through neglect (my fault). Lost at least 50 or 60 to what I thought was RRD, but was actually my mother spraying Roundup in my yard without my knowledge or permission. as for the Festival Fanfare, I am sure they are mislabeled, but have not taken the time to try to figure out what they might be. Can't complain because they were a gift.
