Greenman28 - that is more lime than I'll use in a lifetime. I have to be honest - I do organic grows, and I really don't pay much attention to PH most of the time. I've had containers that had a little lime vs. another similar planting that didn't, and neither of them held any distinct advantage over the other, when it was all said and done. I'd rather mix a nice rich mix, and barring any super out of whack PH shift, just take my chances. If I had synthetic ferts and a 5-1-1 mix, maybe I'd need to be a bit more studious. But while I DO check PH, I usually don't sweat it. Just not liking the idea of wasting a batch of fine ingredients.

Boy! CC had all kinds of ideas. She pretty much listed anything I might have thought of and a few more to boot. My favorite idea is the soap holder. That's because my mother had a big collection of cut glass and she often (always, actually) used pieces in the bathroom to hold various items. A celery dish held the bar of hand soap, a large bowl (about the size of your bucket) would hold rolled up face clothes to be used as individual hand towels when entertaining, a small lidded-one had cotton swaps, another piece, set high on a shelf, had colored marbles with greenery cascading out of it. Even when she changed the entire bathroom decor, the cut glass would come back out. I think it's great that you have this "problem" to contented with.

Update- to my surprise and relief the contractors replaced the screws today after a firm email over the weekend that was obviously "putting it in writing". They used same size screws instead of longer ones but it's still better than a protracted dispute or them walking off the job. I also had them remediate a framing mistake and go back and fill in a trench around the inner porch perimeter that was holding standing water during this job. No doubt they are as ready for this to be done as I am. The porch is beautiful really, good quality in many ways. I am so grateful that there was a contract, the job was permitted, and final payment is at the end. This would have been much worse without that accountability. ricksamples, thank you for your response. Sent my email to them shortly after getting some validation of my concerns. weedyacres, your last statement made my morning, " Yep, it's gonna cost him money. No tears, he screwed up and/or tried to get away with something. Bad call."

Hi Kim, apologies for not responding sooner. You most likely found the answers but I would like to respond. Contact with water will cause both products to swell. The amount of water/moisture exposure will determine the extent of damage. Hope you don't ever run into a situation where this is tested! There are moisture resistant (MR) interior MDF mouldings available. As for the weight, if the MDF is the same width and thickness as the paint-grade wood plank, the materials should be similar in weight. There are a few interior MDF products on the market, some are lighter than others. Your builder most likely has a preference.
