New house, old roses part 3

Moved into a new, old house, built in 1928, roses appear to have been there for a while as wood at bottoms of some are tree-thick. This our third year in the home and I've been doing my best to care for them (never having had roses before) but they still get half eaten by the black spot by the end of the season :(. Any ideas as to what this one is? will post other roses in subsequent threads...

This one is extremely upright hybrid tea, very thorny. Im bad at describing smells, but it kind of smells fruity/tropical. After a hard spring pruning will still get 5-6 feet by august.

Thanks Dan for the info, unfortunatly, blaze and new dawn both bloom on old wood. Golden Showers looks like a nice hardy climber though, and it blooms on new and old wood. Not sure if I would want yellow though- If anyone else has a few more suggestions for a new wood blooming climbing rose? I have been seeing "Shade Tolerant" in the descriptions of some roses (including the Golden Showers) and I figured that would mean they can withstand part shade. I was hoping this meant it could still do well with 3/4 hours of direct sun a day- can anyone clear this up for me? How tolerant is "shade tolerant" when it comes to roses? And of course, if anyone is growing a rose bush/climber/polyantha in part sun, I would love to know which kind it is. Thanks!

Old 3 wire dryer in new house with 4 wire receptacle

Put the 4 wire receptacle back in just like it was and take the 3 wire receptacle back. Purchase a 4 wire cord for the dryer. The middle terminal on the dryer should have some kind of jumper, either a bare metal strip or a green wire, that gets removed. There should be a place marked where the green wire in the cable goes on the dryer. The black, white and red wires in the cable go to the terminal block. There should be a diagram for all this on the dryer. The standard for dryer wiring is to use 4 wires instead of 3 and it is not code compliant to change back to 3 wire.

What zone are you in? That info is always helpful in giving people advice on care. The plant looks pretty healthy right now though. It could be Queen Elizabeth although the blooms look a little droopy for her.

Yes, some of the pictures online are so similar that i thought they were my picture...however, its listed as only being cold tolerant to 7b, and im in 6b...but they do fine with no winter protection...but then i read reviews where ppl said they were growing in 6b, so i guess its probably still that rose??

So i actually have 3 of these, 1 is sick....its leaves are limey-yellow compared with the other two. It has ivy growing around it unlike the other two but the ivy has always been

there and this is the first year it has changed color., it looks like maybe some kind of deficiency...any ideas?

Iron deficiency. Next to the foundation, the pH may be too high, preventing the rose from getting at the iron that is in the soil. Miracid in lieu of other fertilizers has lots of available iron and nitrogen that will help. I would buy some plain sulfur (at the garden center). 1/2 cup per square yard will lower the pH by about 1 point, but it takes a season to work.
