Anyone Else Have This Problem?

Since where I live I have to grow Hostas under trees I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. Oaks are supposed to produce acorns only about every 3rd year. However, because the trees get watered regularly thanks to the presence of the Hostas, they produce acorns every year. And every year I have to dig up literally hundreds of baby trees growing in my garden. Baby Oaks and baby Hickories in the Hosta bed and baby Black Walnuts in the sun beds.

It is is a LOT of work. Last Fall I actually used a shop vac, sucking up as many acorns as possible using a very long extension cord. I also sucked up half my red mulch. Back breaking job and it didn't do any good. This year I'm back to bending and digging them up by the hundreds anyway.

Does anyone else have this problem? How do you deal with it? Any suggestions on how to easily avoid this issue?
