Julia Child rose at Home Depot
Comments (5)Oh that is interesting about how they get to the big box stores! I never knew. It always seems so random and that explains why. I saw Julia Child at Lowe's earlier this spring and almost picked her up but didn't and when I went back they were all gone. I did manage to find a Scentimental there and also got my mom a Cherry Parfait. All roses I was surprised to find at Lowe's! After that shipment of roses all of the others I happened to see at Lowe's were Knock Outs or Flower Carpets. I'm also kicking myself for not picking up a Music Box rose I saw at a Lowe's out of town. All of the ones I mentioned were in large nursery sized pots. Congrats on your lucky find, dutchrose71! :) Andrea...See MoreShopped (and then planted) until I dropped.
Comments (26)trolley_molly, I just want to second your vote for Angelo's. I've gotten some real deals there - you just have to really look at what you're buying. The japanese maple sale is sometimes incredible, as is the bulb sale. Angelo's son is a little more into talking about the plants, and he's much more visible in the business lately. He does the same thing as his father with the surprise discounts, too. There's also a young woman you often find at the register who is pretty knowledgable -you just have to catch them when they aren't swamped. The other thing that's great from Angelo's is their soil. They have a mix that's the best I've ever purchased. I also like the idea that they rescue trees and shrubs and resell them at bargain prices. It's definitely a risk, and they aren't going to deliver, but it's nice, too. I'm glad they're there if for no other reason than I can afford them! Wells, Molbaks, etc. just break the bank. Hey - someone bought a Tophat blueberry. Where did you buy it? I've ordered one twice and not gotten it either time....See MoreCyber Monday shopping done
Comments (16)I didn't realize it was Cyber Monday, but I got an email this morning from the place I order my greeting card envelopes. It told me to "hurry and place my order before 11:59am this morning and get 15% off and free shipping!" I had just been on the site last night drooling over some blue envelopes, so I filled out the order form and typed in the promo code, hit "Place Your Order" before noticing that I forgot to hit "Apply" under the promo code box. UGH. So I called customer service right away. Found out that my order had to be $20 before s/h to get the 15% discount. My order was $16.95 + $8.31 s/h. She said she was sorry but it states so in the "fine print", and if I wanted to cancel my order I could. Oh and the free shipping was for a minimum order of $500. That I DID notice before ordering. Oh well, I now have 50 expensive (but pretty) blue envelopes coming....See MoreA comparison Julia Child/Doris Day
Comments (38)I am zone 9 - very hot dry summers. JC never got over 3 feet for me - had her about 6 years. I just moved and have been rose shopping. I went to nursery last year in our record breaking hot spell - over 105 - the only roses blooming in their black containers were Doris Day. All of them were blooming - so thats the yellow rose for me....See Moreseil zone 6b MI
