Will Moss in my pots hurt my plants?
Comments (6)The algae is an indication that conditions are too moist. Keep the surface of the 'soil' disturbed so that excess water can evaporate properly. Because the sides of your soda bottle container are clear, it makes a perfect environment for for algae culture. Algae requires sunlight. ;-) You might want to consider painting the outside of your bottles next year to prevent this. Excess algae can muck up the pore spaces....See MoreSide facing cabinet? Comments (7)I had one in my old kitchen. Total PITA. You're talking about over a counter like in the pictures, right? I have a cabinet in my new kitchen facing into the doorway where the slider is which is great, but there's no counter or anything, just walkway. The one over the counter, in the corner, requires getting up on a ladder, and reaching across, to get to the top and the far sides. I used the top shelf for the bazillion tumblers for large parties, the far side for stuff I didn't need often, and the near side for things like colanders that are big and easy to get in and out. In my new kitchen there's a corner cabinet. I don't know why it's so much easier to use. Perhaps it's because of the shape. One can reach diagonally across instead of kind of craning around. I have dinner plates in the corner on the first shelf, plastic plates for putting under odd stuff on the second, and the spare DW cutlery baskets on the top. That way I don't ever really have to reach very far in so it's not annoying, and the stuff that's up high is plastic and if I lose hold they don't break. On the near sides I have mostly large containers. Again, easy to get stuff that's not too delicate. I would not put dishes and glasses for regular use in the sideways position, and certainly not the half closer to the corner. Re the hitting the head on the door, I thing that's what happens when you have standard Euro hinges that only open 110 degrees. My old kitchen cabinets opened all the way flat (170-180 degrees), so that part wasn't a problem....See MoreWould this annoy you? My feelings are kind of hurt
Comments (36)Quite frankly, I don't think it's ANYONE's responsibility to buy gifts for anyone... kids make stuff. My kids always made me stuff in school for Mother's Day & Christmas... they made me card or picked me flowers on my birthday. Or they just gave me a hug and said I love you mom... and that's pretty much all I ever needed. It's nice if parents get along well enough to take kids to buy something and if they want to... no problem. If it's an issue where you want nothing to do with ex and kids ask to buy something, I'd say "why don't you make something?" I'm probably alone here, but my opinion is that the world is too darn commercialized and everyone has to buy a card for this or that or send flowers or buy a present. Thank you to Hallmark! We see aisles of gifts for Christmas BEFORE Thanksgiving.. sometimes before Halloween. We see gifts for Halloween... who gives a gift to their teacher on Halloween? WHY? It's a holiday to trick or treat, not give a card or gift. I just think it's silly and really should be a non issue. From the time my kids were 7 or 8, maybe I would give them a little cash & let them buy each other a Christmas present at a dollar store or Target... just a little something. (not always, but a few times & my daughter always bought me a scented candle at dollar tree... I loved it because it was from her, but a hug would have been enough too) I don't get why it is such a big deal nowadays. After my parents divorced, neither of my parents took us shopping for the other... I would have thought "why is he/she doing that?" since I was well aware that they are divorced. (and yes, I was witness to my mom doing some of the things SM's complain about BM's doing for the DH's... and yes, her motive was to piss off my SM and hoping my dad would want her back.. so although I know all BM's don't do it for that reason, I will admit that I am biased as that goes.) As a child of divorce, it was very uncomfortable for me when my mom would say or do things to interject herself in dad's life because I knew dad didn't want her to but he also didn't want to be mean to my mother... because she was my mother. So, I get why these DH's do put up with a lot, but I also wish my dad had stood up for himself more than he did. If he had put her in her place, my life would have been less uncomfortable....See MoreMy husband has really hurt my feelings.
Comments (43)USPS tracking still shows my phone pending delivery next week. I had hoped to have it for the weekend to post photos of our YoYo. No such luck. He is unbelievably cute but maybe should have been named CHEWbacca so says my husband. I don't think that I previously posted about an issue with my husband. He is fairly easy going and easy to get along with. Not long ago I did get irritated because he doesn't want to go out much anymore but I do not think I posted about it.I could be wrong?! As a rule I do not post on forums often and when I do its usually because I am upset about something and for whatever reason do not want to discuss it with IRL people. My plan when I post is to take the first few responses and thank the posters for their interest, then move on using their information/help. It never fails as it goes on that so much more gets read into a relationship/friendship and it leaves one to either ignore that response and the responder, or to defend/deny/explain. Anyhoo all is good and we love our big little guy. Thank you all....See Moretibbrix
