Totally Tomatoes - Sent wrong seed!!!!!
Comments (7)Ya'll have been so nice to respond... My dear daddy, who is 85 years of age, has taught me all I know when it comes to vegetable gardening. As a child, we children were taught to tend the garden. You name it, we did it. Hoed the garden, picked green beans, stringed the beans, shucked the corn, even sowed beans and corn. Sounds like we were slaves, :>, but Lord knows it was the best days of my life. Those were the good ole days. :> Having said all that, these EGirls were grown for him as well. When I received the call from him stating he thought maybe somehting was wrong with these "red" toms (that are now yellow) I was disppointed for him not me. As the southern gentleman he is, honey don't worry about it, we'll make do. I assured him I had plenty other red tomatoes I was growing and if I had enough to eat on, he would too. It's just nice to walk out the back door and pick your own. Also, not ever growing determinate toms before,(which I think these are) will they last very long? These plants are very short and full of tom's, maybe 6 - 8 right next to each other. There isn't much foliage as well. I'm looking forward to enjoying the taste of my "yellow" early girls. :> :> lolololol...See MoreMy fauteuil/bergere chairs I ordered on eBay arrived broken
Comments (54)Just wanted to add that where I suspect there was a scam (in fact I might even call it fraud) is in regard to Greyhound and insurance. He insurred each chair for $300 and from the sound of it, was assuming I'd make a claim through Greyhound and get reimbursed for the cost of the chair plus have one functional chair. He did not bet on my taking it to a antique furniture restoration store (which I might not have except that I needed to get my dining room chair fixed) and that person telling me that he saw these types of things all the time in insurance claims and said and put in writing that it was clearly not shipping related damage. When I spoke to Paypal they said this is the type of information they look for when handling a dispute. Now my other issue is if I send it back do I insure it (it's my understanding that Greyhound will insure for $300 for no additional cost). There is a page where the cost of the item is declared. For the damaged chair, I want to declare a cost of $0 since I want to prevent him from filing a Greyhound claim on return. FOr the other chair DH and I were discussing 1/2 the cost I paid--about $100....See MoreHow final should plans be when sent to bid?
Comments (5)Your construction drawings and specification should include everything that you want the contractor to build, provide and/or install, so as to eliminate allowances and to know what you are actually getting and what it will cost before proceeding with construction. Far too many people think that "it's too much work; too many decisions" and let the builder provide them with a long list of allowances in the initial construction bid and in the contract for construction. Unfortunately, too many builders follow a practice of low-balling the allowances in order to be competitive (in competitive bid situations) and to keep the initial construction cost low (in negotiated contracts). Only later does an owner find out that the allowances may often be insufficient for what the owners later decide they actually want. This forum and the homebuilding forum are full of threads on this subject. Search for them. The only way to know what your true construction cost will be is to do your due diligence and ensure that everything you want in your project, the way you want it, is included in the drawings and specifications used for bidding. Most builders will only look closely at a set of construction drawings and specifications once. Their time is money. So if you want a complete and realistic price, wait until things are fully complete before bidding. If you (or your architect) think you are already over budget, work it out now in the design stage. Reach mutual agreement during the design phase and before commencing construction documents, not after! With many builders, you only get one shot! After that, their attention goes elsewhere to "serious" owners who know what they want and match their budget to that. Good luck with your project....See MoreHomeadvisor sent a convicted felon to my home
Comments (14)This isn't the first time I have heard this. I will not use Home Advisor because I will not offer personal information before I receive a list of contractors from whom to choose, at which point I research them; that's completely backwards. Angie's List worked for me (prior to selling out) because I was in the driver's seat. No way will I send my information out there and let them send me any warm body. You are right. It's just a referral service that extracts fees out of contractors, so many won't use it, as the fees rise quickly, I am told. I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope you find someone good. I just hired someone locally with good reviews on this site....See More- 8 years ago
