suggestion for office paint color (full spectrum)
Comments (5)Hi, Patricia, Thank you for your response. It's an office in my home, a small bedroom about 10x10. The window is off to one side and it's 5' tall by about 2 1/2 feet wide. As for the furniture, it's a mishmash. I have an ugly 5-drawer metal file cabinet I'd like to replace. It has a large corner-unit desk that is a light wood color with a black top. I also have another light wood desk in there. I don't have any pictures, but in any case I'd be too embarrassed to post a photo as the room isn't gorgeous as what I always see on this web site! It's just a boring '70s tract house tiny bedroom which serves as my home office. Clients don't visit -- it's just me working in there. Right now the walls are stark white, and the room is in desperate need of paint. I want to keep it light but don't want to do stark white again. I want a light color that will be nice to look at while I slave away at my computer. Thanks for your input :-)...See MorePics - Home Office Laminate and Paint Color
Comments (10)Brieen, the room is about 10 ft x 10 ft. Valinsv, nice office! Our cabinets are already here. They are made by Kitchen Craft (a Canadian Company). We bought cabinets for the kitchen, office and all the bathrooms at the same time. They are really nice quality, dove tail drawer construction, full extension and soft close. I especially love my kitchen cabs in Maple painted seashell. Your wood counters are really nice but that is not going to happen for us. I made the decision today with out GC to use matte black laminate and he is going to trim the edge in beveled maple, stained to match the cabinets. I hope it looks good. Comments (8)Thanks everyone for the suggestions! Yup I used 2 coats of shellac primer on the knots, then about 3 coats on the paneling. Glossy ceiling has been painted with a flat ceiling paint and the boob light is definitely going ! Being replaced with a contemporary white fan. I will rethink white for the walls, I like the photos above and can see that with the right furnishings and decor it doesn’t have to look like a shabby chic beach cottage....See MoreDesign suggestions for home office!
Comments (16)Thank you so much to everyone for your input and sharing your time and expertise! @Silver Fox 88 - I like your idea of a big plant in each corner flanking the desk, good suggestion! Also you're right that I definitely need some wall art; I can't even begin to figure that out yet. ;) Can you explain why the desk is too close to the wall? I had assumed that it was good to be against the wall, which leaves the most open space in the rest of the room. (The windows behind the curtains overlook the garden, so I want the desk facing in that direction.) ------ @Jilly - thank you, I'm glad to know I'm off to a good start! :) The house was built in 1924, it's a center-hall Colonial. Thank you for the various picture selections, those are a great starting point, and I just learned that houzz shows you paint color names in photos, which is awesome. I don't have a fixed budget, but since we need to furnish the entire house, I'd like to keep my office relatively low-cost. Ideally not more than about $200-300 for the rug, say 100-200 for a filing cabinet, and honestly I have no idea how much paint costs yet. The rest of the house is some mid-century modern but from the actual mid-century (our dining room table is an heirloom from my grandparents), I also like traditional, new traditional ...? I like warm wood, bright colors, and plants! And, great suggestion on the visualizer features for rugs on Overstock, etc, thanks, I'll give that a try! ------ @housegal200 - Thanks for the pointer on how to balance a rug with the wall color, that's super helpful. Exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for! :)...See MoreUser
