Ikea Cabinets - Which Line is Best Quality?
Comments (13)While it sounds like the Fagerland and the Liljestad lines, being solid wood, are the top quality at Ikea, I know that the colors of those two would be too dark for my friend. I am still confused then. Barrelhead - is your posting above of Ikea lines in order of quality? Are the flat panel doors (ie. Nexus, Perfekt and Rubrik) higher quality than the framed doors (like Adel, Askome, Tidaholm)? I am still confused after reading this thread. I've been on the Ikea website and still can't tell what I should look for to get the best quality doors at Ikea. I know Lisaslists says you can tell when you see them, but I am not so sure I will be able to. Amberly said the quality varies quite a bit, and I'll be able to tell when I look at the label. How will I be able to tell? What materials am I looking to find in the label? Or not find in the label? Or if you know of lines that are really the lower-levels, let me know. Thanks everyone....See MoreIKEA Counter top - recent quality issue
Comments (5)Hi, sorry for being quite but full time job and 2 kids keep me way to busy. The BB was sealed within 3 days from taking it home. The mfg instructions says to do it right away, which I did. I did not screw it to the island yet because I was sealing it several time. Yes t was in warranty but to rent a track to bring it back, ask the cabinet maker to cut to size a new piece, would cost me the same. Also, the pieces are moving and it is not as flat as the 2 pieces we bought 3 years ago. I actually kind of neglect those in the basement (only BB oil twice at the very beginning and that was it) and they look fine. I have seen other IKEA products going down the hill. They want to give price reduction against very poor quality (for instance cabinets knobs and handles). I have been a IKEA Customer for 20 years so I can really see the trend....See MoreIkea kitchens....how is the quality?
Comments (37)I installed my Ikea kitchen over 6 years ago and have absolutely no regrets. I'm just about to start working on a new project (total fixer upper again) hence my return to the forum. You can see pictures of the kitchen and also the Ikea master bathroom cabs in the virtual tour below. We just sold our house for close to $2million and I think most would agree that the kitchen isn't the poor relative in the picture as some people predicted it would be. BTW These are nexus black/brown doors. I plan to do another Ikea Kitchen but may do custom doors this time. If you're up for a bit of creativity you can make the cabinets work for most floor plans despite the limited sizes. I customized for the microwave, the oven cabinet and a bunch of other areas and I spent 5-6K total for kitchen, laundry and master bathroom cabinetry (master has built-ins that you can't see in addition to the ones you can). Installation is straight-forward although the tall cabinets can be very heavy. We changed out edge banding on ours for stained teak but I don't think I'd even bother doing that again. Comments (31)I have veddinge and I have posted about it before. The problem with it is when you drill the doors to put the knobs. Drill a tiny hole first and do not put any tape. I put the tape thinking it will prevent chipping, but instead, tape took off the paint with it. Lessons learned. My kitchen still looks fine, but that is because I try to be careful with it. My next Ikea kitchen will have some wood-like finish, something like this one: TORHAMN. It is a natural looking wood. I believe, you can can have doors professionally painted to the color you want. So, it it chips, you can always fix it with a little paint touch up. Also, this has Shaker style, which is timeless. Your kitchen will never go out of style unlike all the trendy doors....See Moremichoumonster
