Italian Giant - What should it be?
Comments (5)Since you've done the Googling I can only note what I find in the 2009 Yearbook where there are about 4,000 varieties listed. I don't have my 2010 Yearbook yet. Orange/yellow section; nothing named Italian anything where Italian is the first word Pink/purple section;, listed are Italian, Italian Sweet Red section; Beefsteak, Italian, lots of ones with Italian as the first word including Italian Giant: IA, flat shaped 3.5 X 2 inch fruits, no yield or taste comments NY, largest bigger than two fists, sometimes teardrop varieties ( must mean shapes), heavy producer, no taste comments OH, large fruit around one pound, fair yield, but good flavor TN, excellent producer of large tear drop fruits, flavor is rich and wonderful ( that's Marianne Jones at mariseeds) Only two folks give their seed sources, IA says from a NY SSE member in 1987, which seems to predate the others, NY gives no seed source, OH gives a KY source, Marianne gives no seed source. Sounds like a rather mixed up situation to me and perhaps some crossing has been going on. If it were me I's take the description by IA as being closest to the truth since IA got seed way back in 1987 from a fellow SSE member. Carolyn...See MoreShould I paint my house? Remove a carport?
Comments (1)Paint if you are doing it yourself and if the house really NEEDS it (severely cracked paint, exposed wood). Same with carport. I prefer to sell things as is because nearly everything you do will not return as much as it costs, and you are then doing what you like and not what the new owner might prefer. If anything, give an allowance for such things. There are numerous articles bragging about how you get a 80% return after spending 100% on improvements. And this is supposed to be good??? Not all realtors communicate very well, and the showing realtor may have never even talked to your realtor. I would have a flyer there at the property clearly discussing these allowances so you don't have to rely on 2nd hand accountings. Now if your market make things nearly impossible to sell, then maybe do some enhancements to have your home stand above. Of course with the allowances, it would be priced essentially lower than "market". You could price out the work with a contractor and pay out of earnest money for any work done before closing if they want a finished product. Or have the money for them at closing so they can do it themselves. Best of both worlds....See MoreWhat should I do with my housefront
Comments (7)I would not change the style of the windows, just upgrade to more energy efficient. Right now they have a MCM feel and go perfectly with your ranch house. The window next to the door allows light into the entry. I think it will be darker without it. It also allows you to see who is at the door without opening it. If you want a bit of privacy, get a wavy textured glass. You are lucky. You don't have to do much to spruce up the appearance....See MoreWhat kind of gate should I use for the front of my carport?
Comments (5)I like the idea of sitting space but won’t that look kind of strange from the street? And are you going to be parking in the driveway? How about something like these panels, painted to match the house?...See MoreUser
